See, VN games are, by definition, the lowest cost of production you can get in games.
They had more than enough of their original budget, yet still made a shitty game.
Even if they make a large profit (which they have) they will more than likely stick to the same guidelines for a sequel game, and as such it will be just another VN game, which in theory relies not on a budget, but simply off the most basic writing of the writers and the artistic ability of the artists involved.
VN games require very little production time and have almost no real programming behind them, hell, you could probably make on in Game Maker Studio easily, if you had the time.
Simple numbers are easy to see here and do not lie. I hope you now understand why a sequel to the game will probably be on par with the shitty game we have now.
If you like the game or the GG, that is cool, but defending it by saying, "next one will be better" is not exactly a healthy mindset, especially if you understand the business side of things.
