What they did make a point of was that he'd fuck anything there is, if there could be, potentially, any degree of enjoyment from doing it (or by letting others see that he was doing it). And to him, that was completely normal.
He didn't have any of these I'M GAY AND I'M PROUD OF IT moments. He was completely and utterly casual about it. Like that scene when he kissed Bullseye, everyone knew Daken was gay, but that kiss was so completely on the spur of the moment, that the scene just worked.
And that's what irks me about current pandering in comics. Any time they add a character who isn't a straight white male, they make that the entire defining point as a character. Ms Marvel is a muslim, so you have to go through multiple issues of her cultural backgrounds. Lightspeed is a lesbian, so 4 out of 5 of her appearances have her either talking some other character about their gayness, or her hooking up with another lesbian.
But Daken, no, he was this magnificent son of a bitch, who was also a master troll and a serial killer, he could do anything he wanted because his healing knit him back together, and he could make everyone do what he wants due to his pheromone control. So he goes and does that, fuck with everyone because he fucking can. Oh he kissed a guy? That's his average Friday night, not his character defining point.
