This is really embarrassing. It's like "Hey, remember how good we USED to be? Well, we're still good, you just don't get it!" Marvel is still refusing to change course, instead they're hoping that they can somehow mimic DC Rebirth without actually doing any of the major changes that DC Rebirth actually symbolized (a general tonal shift, focus on giving the fans what they want instead of telling them what they want, strong editorial centralization, etc.) and will learn absolutely nothing when it invariably fails to make a big dent.
Of course, I'm not expecting Metal to be a huge blockbuster hit, so there's the chance that Marvel will make a few bucks off this, beat DC in sales a few times, and take that as proof that they're doing nothing wrong and that their strategy is totally viable.
>>93407420They're probably hoping that the trade sells well, since the sort of audience they're going for tends to prefer trades. That's why Squirrel Girl is still around, despite mediocre sales.
