The ST was a mistake. Luke redeeming Anakin and Anakin bringin balance to the Force by killing Sheev should have remained the ultimate end to Star Wars.

The new movies should have been set before the prequels or between the PT and OT.

TFA lived off the hype around the OT actors. Take that hype away and all that remains is a soulless hollywood blockbuster with a terrible script.

it seems prety clear to me that LSG had no real influence in the production of TFA because Abrams made sure that his production company was involved as well as Lucasfilm. That stupid hack even demanded that the podracer flags at Maz's castle be removed.

This was not the case with R1 (see all of the links with TCW and rebels, chopper on set, Pablo's book, etc. etc. etc.) and TLJ (Johnson set up camp in an office a couple doors down from the LSG at Lucasfilm for several weeks when writing)

Lucasfilm has complete control of the movies now (thankfully)

TFA was the exception because JJ would only direct if his own shitty company was in charge.

Because, you know, his buddies are more qualified to make Star Wars than the veterans who have been doing it for 10, 20, even 30 years.

Rian Johnson seems to be exceptionally more supportive of Lucasfilm, and he has even reportedly been helping out around Lucasfilm with other non-movie projects.

Sheev still has his lightsaber.

They found Yoda's lightsaber, and cremated it along with every other lightsaber they plucked off dead Jedi killed in the Temple in a very public cemerony. But because the Kyber crystals inside were still alive, the resultant fire grows out of control and nearly scorches Mas Amedda and a couple of clone troopers.

They confirm again that Sith lightsaber crystals are red because they use the Dark Side to dominate the crystal, pouring so much pain into it until the agony of it "bleeds" a beautiful crimson.

Because the lightsaber of a Sith is taken, rather than given, Vader has been sent on a quest to relieve a hiding Jedi of their kyber crystal for his own purposes.

Sheev had left a ship for Vader only for it to have been coincidentally stolen. Truly, a lawless galaxy.

To the guy doing the high-resolution screen caps last thread, thanks a lot.
Neet to see, in the shot with the Decraniated for instance, what one would presume to be troopers on "shore leave" or what you'd call it in space.

TKs/Navy/Army troopers do wear the black uniform, right?

Also, screen cap guy, did you happen to see any rebel starfighters with green or otherwise unique markings? I doubt they exist but I keep looking for evidence of other squadrons outside of just the visual guide.

Nucanon has already established that the Rebellion laid low and did barely anything in between Empire and Jedi. The only story we don't really know in that time frame is what mission Mon Mothma sent Luke on in Moving Target.

It's more likely that were getting a ST era show since Filoni said something to the effect of 'every generation has had their own show so the next one will be for the new generation'.

All of the CG X-wing models built for R1 have either blue or red markings. And there's only a handful of unique ships actually on screen, the model for Blue 2, 4, Red 3, etc. are reused several times to depict different ships. Although technically there is a "green squadron" that exists at the battle but isn't mentioned in the movie, only the UVG

Well logically, the Rebellion would have been at it's height between ANH and ESB. They just showed that they have a chance, they destroyed a huge, powerful superweapon, and showed that the unhappy planets could band together and have a chance.

Then the head is essentially cut off the serpent at Hoth, a demoralizing blow not only in scope of losses but "invincible" heroes like that badass smuggler getting killed (appears to be, anyway) and OP Luke "saber every imperial" Skywalker was summeraly beaten by the dread pirate Vader.

A lot of people probably withdrew their support between ESB and ROTJ, and when time for Endorses came it was probably another situation like Scarif, where some people where iffy about joining them. With the increase in tension with the Emperor himself supposedly at the DS-II, it probably swayed a little more people into action.

Then afterwards it was clear they had a fighting chance and support came pouring in for them, compared to before.

This is about what I figured. The only thing that makes a little sense to me is if the green squadron was cut from the movie.

Probably figure that after recovering the footage of Dreis and Vander, they didn't need their own new squadron, or thought people wouldn't care about so many squadrons.

Which of course, being me who loves the space battle the most, would have been entirely fine with more Starfighter footage.

If I remember the story right, Edwards was pouring over old cut footage they found while he was visiting the ranch, and found it. He thought it was in good enough shape to use, so he did.

It made the movie for me when I saw it in theatre.

I think more of the stuff he found is what they showed off early this year with the "gold leader drops the F bomb" tape and alternative death star meeting intro.

This is probably my favorite thing about the Darth Vader comics: it shows us a lot of pivotal moments that happened behind the scenes originally. The fallout of Vader being upset about his wife dying here, for example, or the scene where Vader finally realizes that Palpatine was lying to him all along.

Why do people not like bleeding crystals? The Sith care so much about life that they want to dominate it to the point of becoming the masters of its very energy. So the bleeding crystals makes infinitely more sense than synthetic crystals in the context that it actually fits thematically with the Sith's raison d'etre.

To be fair this comic is set right as the Empire is changing the aesthetics of all it's Clone Wars era equipment to better fit what you see in the OT. From other material we know the core worlds changed their equipment almost instantaneously so it's likely Vader would receive any new version or prototype of that ship right after ROTS.

I thought the previous canon was that you could harvest any color from naturally occurring crystals, but if you grow one artificially in a lab, you get a red one.
Which had a secondary advantage which I can't recall a source on that red had some sort of wavelength intensity which had a small chance of just completely overpowering and breaking through the guard of other color beams.
So, a more powerful weapon that's easier to create. And just happens to be an emotional spectrum color that matches hate, fire and violence.

In the Soviet Union the KGB spread around meditation because it inspires you to sit and do nothing about a problem instead of organizing into rebellion. Lightsabers that use synthetic crystals are very likely possible in canon but they're just not used by Sith anymore. It wouldn't surprise me if someone around the time of TFA tried to fuck around and make a fake lightsaber using cheap synthetic crystals instead of expensive kyber crystals and then sell it on the black market.

Did you watch the Utapau arc? Because what happens there is literally how a lightsaber is shown to work, and is exactly what you describe. The blade of a lightsaber is feedback from the crystal upon being fed energy from the active power cell. In the Utapau arc, it was demonstrated that if you fire a blaster at a kyber crystal, the transfer of energy results in a reaction from the crystal resembling a laser, essentially recycling the energy into a far, far more potent force. It is not a blaster bolt suspended by a field. It is a regulation of the crystal's own energy, which is also why you see in Rebels that there too is a practice setting.

Battlefront 2 used heroes that were most appropriate for the maps.

They tried to stick with canon, but in some cases there was no canon options.

There was (at the time) no canon battle of Kamino, so they just stuck Jango there.

They worked Boba in through the story.

But it's true, in Dicefront more than ever, that heroes should be ignored in regards to the canonicity of the battles.

The Jango that died on geonosis was a clone. Dooku had it be there to test order 66 with all those jedi they had rounded up. Jango was in on it and was basically faking his death so that he'd no longer be pursued for the padme assassination attempts and any other bounty related grudges. He laid low during the clone wars on kamino, probably gave taun we a few more 'DNA samples' too.

So Maz Kanata is supposed to have been running her bar since forever, and have known all sorts of pirates and smugglers throughout history, right? Since she is literally a thousand years old, if not more, I'd doubt she was really active by the time the Prequels start. She may have done a 'soft retire' from the business to set up her castle as a place for pirates to go, since it's around during the time of Jyn's YA book (she goes there at one point in the six years before RO). The whole point of the interaction is for Vader to steal a lightsaber for it's crystal off of a Jedi. He's just going to disarm the Jedi of his lightsaber and use it to kill him, then take it back to Palpatine as a trophy.

My headcanon is that Darth is a portmanteau of dark and death and the subsequent name is intentionally similar to real words like insidious or invader and when this name is bestowed on a Sith they are to use it as their mantra. For example Bane would have likely thought to himself 'bane... bane... I will be the bane of the Jedi....' and Tyrannus would meditate on 'tyrannus... tyrant.... I will help my master create the Empire...'. Vader's name probably came from some mindset of Sidious knowing Anakin felt like an outsider to the Jedi so because they refused to invite him in he will instead invade their temple and destroy them. Also probably because he used Anakin to invade on the personal matters of the Jedi leading to their downfall.

I think the only thing that qualifies as "grey canon" is Freemaker Adventures, which is fully not-canon, but the setting is designed to fit in with canon.

Like if someone irl wrote a story that was fictional, but took place in a real time-period and place, and the background details of that setting were historically accurate.

Which sort of reminds me of the chuckle I had back when the Darth Caedus books were coming out, and it was revealed that the old Ewoks movies were actual in-universe holo-stories.

Yeah, it was still canon in the EU. It was referenced a few times- Chewie's son went on to become a recurring character in the post ROTJ-era, too.

He was a moron in Legends, though. His whole thing was that he got suckered into working for Palpatine and then when he realized he was working for an evil space wizard he basically pissed himself and realized he was trapped where he was.

Yeah, he sticks around for a bit but since Legends had long established Sate Pestage in the Grand Vizier role, Mas Amedda just kind of shuffles off. I don't think they ever even really decided what happened to him, just that he's not really around anymore.
