I had assumed kemono friends was the MLP of anime because how popular it got and how much I don't understand how it got that popular. Should I give it a shot? I really don't like the CG but there must be some aspects that drive it's appeal, right?

MLP is basically just western moe. Pretty much any moe garbage anime is your eastern equivalent of MLP.

Kemono friends is just terrible in every way except at being popular. I don't understand it. I could hardly even make it through the first episode.
