I thought that was time catching up to Ashi. If Aku is slain before Ashi is created, (and the priestess probably didn't exist anymore, the right person 1 not marrying person 2), then it would be necessary for Time to hit the button on Ashi before she can get married- which is a big warning sign that she's about to have her wedding night, and Time can't have Ashi continue to exist- to have more children.
So Ashi's path of lineage was wiped out, and the moment it looked like she was getting hitched, Time has to scramble to give her the whammy before Jack can give her seven samurai daughters.
Casualties: Aku, the Aku-ruled entire timeline, Ashi, and Ashi's possible timeline of her semi-demonic samurai seven-tuplets children.
Top that, Murdercock Greg Universe.
