>>92605224>I guess Aku would just take a break from trying to kill him in that scene and kindly wait for him to decideOh go fuck yourself, you know that's a bullshit argument.
The writers didn't have to structure it that way, don't give me that pedantic nonsense.
>He did something he couldn't bring himself to do for years because the circumstances forced him toHe didn't choose to go back to the past. He said "you have Aku's powers" and Ashi sent them both back in time with no hesitation, didn't even ask him.
Cut five minutes out of the big epic fight and have future Aku defeated on the ground, he's dead. Jack debates with himsef and with Ashi about whether they should use Aku's powers to go back in time at all.
Boom. Done. I fixed the problem.
Being forced to do the thing you have to do means absolutely fuck all for a character arc. That's why the writers couldn't have a scene where Jack deliberates.
Because EVERY SINGLE OTHER ELEMENT OF HIS CHARACTER FROM PREVIOUS EPISODES, including his new Mary Sue girlfriend, would reasonably have him conclude that he should stay in the future.
Writing a way for him not to choose that would take, I dunno, talent? A basic ability to write a character? So they just forced him to do it against his will in a split second.
