I say either play Greek mythology straight or don't do it at all. Ares Buchanan is a good example of it coming off really stupid.
My favorite parts of Perez's run are the parts between arcs with Diana in Boston, and I do love WML's Losses storyline. So I'm totally cool with the superhero angle. You gotta have a good balance. I think Rucka tried to but leaned a little too far in the Greek direction, while Simone's focus on the superhero angle made the mythological aspects feel forced.

Starman is another perfect example. You have someone whose costume is as fucking dumb as Starman, but they don't act like it's dumb, so it feels totally natural.
