To be fair, the first episode had little dialogue for the most part and relied on visual storytelling. The newer season has a lot more talking between Jack and Ashi, and I expect things like the Scotsman being involved in the final battle and Jack trying to convince Ashi not to be evil will require a lot of dialogue.

Earth all across the surface. Judging by Episode 8 showing us an orbital view before the prison crashed, that one probably happened in the Sahara Desert. Where Jack was earlier in the season is hard to say, but a pine forest in a temperate area, so maybe northern Europe or maybe fucking Canada (the beast obviously was oceangoing).

It would be essentially throwing away her character and her relationship with Jack just for her to end up becoming a tree. That tree is the same one from Episode 5. That scene with the trees is most likely just showing Aku's future can still be healed after many years.

To be fair, Episodes 9 & 10 are all apart of the finale. They are meant to be viewed back-to-back. When Ashi said "kill me Jack", it caused some people to cry, so that could've been the scene he was talking about. Based on the leaks so far, Episode 10 has more of a positive vibe to it. The entire theme of the season is literally hope. It may seem like hope is lost, but there is still always hope.

I seriously doubt, since Ashi's entire arc has been about hope and rebirth, and her visual metaphor is tied strongly to growth from ashes. Then you have the whole 'prison sweater with a key over the heart,' which is conspicuous as fuck.

The only way I see Ashi dying is if she sacrifices herself, but even that is iffy. Big thematics in S5 center around the importance of choice and the freedom to decide your own path (and accept responsibility for it). Kinda subverts that narrative thrust if you have a character who literally HAS to die.

What is interesting is Genndy said there would be no more sequels or spin-offs, this is the definitive end. So it sounds like he is saying you will be crying it's over. He also says the ending is super satisfying and resolving, and he wants you to feel "love" for the series as a whole after it's all over.
