I liked his death; it said a lot about Aku.
They dance together at the news that Jack has lost the sword, and they share a good laugh when they confront the Samurai. Scaramouche clearly has his boss in very high esteem. Not only out of fear; he seems to genuinely like Aku.
And Aku seems to retort said feelings of appreciation, otherwise he wouldn't have returned Scaramuche's body nor brought him along with him.
And despite it all, the moment Aku was pissed at him he killed with without even giving him a chance to explain himself.
That really settled the moment that reminded us what an awful evil bastard Aku really is.

I knew deed down that he was not really coming back. Genndy said they'd address him; that was a confirmation that he wouldn't show up for a rematch. If he did Genndy wouldn't have said shit about him; he's been pretty quiet about any plot points in interviews.

He could only piss the Guardian off because he never touched him with it. The Guardian blocked every attack; the sword could very clearly hurt him; otherwise he wouldn't have bothered to block. We don't know the nature of the Guardian, so assuming he's godly just because he was old, immortal and glowed, while understandable, is still not any sort of evidence.

Episode 10 spoilers.

Unspoil at own risk. No, i'm not posting credentials

Jack gets his original sword back from ghost Scotsman, uses it to defeat Aku. Ashi starts dying. She creates a time portal before the final blow is struck. Jack does indeed go to the past, but instead of going back to his childhood, he goes back 2 hours and kills Aku at his base, saving Ashi. Scaramouch is also conveniently saved

I mean, Aku just sorta winging it fits his character very well but for what's meant to be the finale, it feels very lackluster.

It almost makes Jack's redemption arc near pointless since after everything they went through Aku shows up, again by more chance then anything, and after realizing some new information he never knew just goes "Uhh, yeah sure lets go with that" and then ruins everything. This would be fine, and again in character, but considering how Jack centric the season was with Aku barely even being involved, it just feels...dumb.

Everytime Jack starts to win against Aku, Aku just turns into a bat or something and fucks off. So for the finale battle, I think Ashi is going to do something that prevents Aku from running away, allowing Jack to finally kill him.

I know Ashi had to be as focused as Jack, otherwise the twist wouldn't work, but man I really wished the showed more of depressed Aku.

The also should've abandoned the Scotsman's role entirely. He got one scene in a single episode and has been ignored since until abruptly reappearing in the finale. I love the Scotsman but I also love not forcing good characters into unnecessary plot points that only serve to masturbate to my nostalgia, rather then fitting appropriately into the narrative.

There is NO DEBATE ABOUT THIS. The ONLY SCENE THEY SKIPPED IN THAT EPISODE WAS THE PART WHHERE THE GUYS "HAMMER" JACK'S SOUL INTO THE FORM OF A SWORD, that may have been skipped but its still implied to have happened by the laser beams.

The reason people still expected the Guardian to show up is because he had a large impact on the original show, and the idea that Aku just plain killed him was so stupidly straightforward and simple, nobody expected it and thought there was a bigger picture in there somewhere.

Let's be honest, the spirits of his family have been watching him contemplate suicide for the past 50 years. The spirit of Jack's father will probably tell him he's done too much in the future to erase it all by going back to the past.
iirc, his father pointed out all the allies he's made during that scene where he was fighting the Aku infection.
Bonus points if they make it so Ashi's time portal opens up above ground like in S1E1 and he gets a surprise cut down the middle on Aku from the top down.
Sure, this ending would piss off a good 50% or more, but the alternative is Ashi dying or something else, which pisses off the other 50%
Genndy said it would be "bittersweet", I'm just not sure how much bitter and how much sweet he's willing to put into episode 10. He also can't satisfy everybody, keep that in mind.

Is it not fucking clear enough that they SKIPPED HALF THE SEQUENCE FOR TIME CONSTRAINTS?

Think about it this way, there is NO point to animate the same exact scene twice.

In this case, they skipped it for ime constraints, but people are acting like skipping the sequence means everything in the middle never happened.

This appears to be a mistake on the animator's end. There's a controversy over Jack's sword that should not exist right now.

Oh well, when Jack pulls out the original sword next week in the finale you're going to call "Asspull" when the writing is on the wall.

Next Saturday, you get fucked up the ass.

Honestly, if they showed the entire sequence, everybody would know that Jack got a new sword and it would invalidate the critical scene we just saw in Episode 9

The viewer, like Jack, feels that all hope is now lost, and the sword is now in the hands of Aku

But this is bad storytelling, because Jack does actually know the new sword is a new one because he experienced the forging of the sword himself, but the viewer/audience wasn't allowed to see half the sequence because Genndy doesn't want us to know the sword is a new one.

IIRC the only beings that were actually able to stave Aku off, even if they couldn't kill him, were those elemental entities in that one episode, and presumably only because of magic or some shit. The Guardian was an excellent warrior, but at the end of the day he was still just that: a warrior. No magic, just stupidly good with any and all weapons as well as martial arts.

Against Aku, that kind of skill is meaningless without a weapon capable of causing him lasting harm.

Keep in mind that the elementals are powered by the gods (whose energy was originally used to vanquish cosmic Aku at the beggining of time) and that by season 1 Aku was still refered to as a "Wizard" instead of a cosmic evil. The idea that the goodness of the human spirit is the only thing that can defeat Aku took root in later seasons. I'm almost certain that current Aku would defeat the elementals.

Jack never says anything about "getting -his- sword back", even when Ashi directly noted his sword was back.

And when Scaramouch in episode 9 told him that Samurai Jack lost his sword, Jack just simply pulls out the one he has and doesn't say anything.

This topic is intentionally being left vague to increase the surprise factor in episode 10 when someone hands him the original one

Bonus points if Ashi gets one of the swords and Jack gets the other sword and it becomes a fight of Jack's sword vs Jack's father's sword

Jack is able to free Ashi with the help of the Scotsman's celtic magic, though she's mortally wounded in the process. Using her AKUstic powers she tears open a portal in time. Aku attempts to destroy it but the Scotsman sacrifices his ghost to stop him. Jack kills Aku while he's distracted, says goodbye to Ashi, then jumps through.

The time portal is unstable and wipes Jack's memory while only sending him back 55 years to when he first got sent to the future. The old opening plays before the WATCHA

Basically he drains the life force of people, animals and nature itself for 2,000 years so he can go back in time to save his family and also all of the killing he's done will be reversed by doing so...ends up the relic only allows him to go back 20 mintes...he could harvest wakfu for 20 millenniums and entire worlds, but it will never be enough to go back in time to save his family...that and then the guilt from ruining so many lives and destroying so many things in nature that will never be replaced hits him as well and thus is a tragic character of best intentions, thorough planning and bargaining of the ends justify the means etc.

It felt pointless. Besides, he worked so well in Episode 1 because the rest of the episode was exceptionally bleak. He balanced out all of the dark imagery of the episode with light-hearted fun at the end.

The other episodes aren't dark or bleak like that and have an optimistic tone, so it'd be better if the shift back to the bleaker tone came with the previously established bleak villain.
