Just watched them, and got to say I enjoyed 4/5 of them. I will spoiler tag my thoughts for people that want to wait or haven't watched yet.

Lion 4 was a GIANT cocktease, Doug Out was fine because I enjoy Connie's Dad, Good Lars was fine because even though it was nothing it was a bad episode, the final 2 were great. Tense and actually some call backs to earlier stuff. I really enjoyed them. I do admit I'm getting tired of Steven blame himself for everything BUT it does show that Steven is regretting how childish he was in the past.

This bomb put me in high hopes for the future.

The wand seems like it's just a bit of advanced Gem technology like the "limb enhancer" finger things peridot had. Remember that peridots finger things could shoot energy beams, make holograms, function as a helicopter, float, make a computer monitor, etc. And visually they looked the same as the wand (cylinders)

Although I do find it weird that Lars is going with Steven. I just don't get how they'll make it work. Lars and Sadie are definitely the more focused townies, but I never thought they'd get a character like Lars this involved with gem-related stuff.

The character importance setup for reoccuring characters has always been
The Main Crystal Gems > Lapis, Peridot, Greg, and Connie > Lars & Sadie > More focused townies > Lesser focused townies

But with this it kind of seems like they're bumping up Lars to Greg, Connie, Peridot, and Lapis-tier. Which is kind of weird. The writers really seem to have no idea what they're doing.

They tried a bunch of times but she was too slippery and skilled. The difference between Aquamarine and Peridot wasn't their equipment, it was skill. Peridot is an idiot coward who ran away constantly and Aqua was skilled and on the offense.

Things escalated extremely quickly from the moment the whole group found Aqua and found out what was going on. They never had an opportunity to go to a teleport pad and go try to find them

the last two I agree with though, it's pretty gay that the show will only be Lars and Steven for the next few episodes

I'm half Filipino with a Filipino dad. It's not as uncommon as you think. All the Filipino men in my family have married white women too.

Consider the time frame they had to work with here.
By the time they realized there was any danger it was already a combat situation. Before they got ambushed they thought they were just looking for a single small gem. When the combat started in Funland they never had enough free time to run back to the temple, get on the warp pad, run to the barn, look for Peridot and Lapis (who could have been anywhere on the property or even not there at all) and then get back

if they had run off then everybody would have been long gone in the spaceship

stakes.steven is away from his family and going to enemy territory. if he was captured with the gems they would make a bullshit message saying "hey at least we are together! yeaaaaah"
instead of the sense of despair that this episode had.
