I'll end this on some of my thoughts on recent kaiju films.
G14 was a 9/10. I had no problem with screentime because he actually had more screentime then most G films. All it really needed was to have Cranston around longer to be perfect.
Skull Island was an 8/10. It needed better characters and the middle points of the film had some pacing issues, but it was still pretty damn good.
Now this one I'll get a lotta shit for
Shin Gojira was a 5-6/10. There were no characters in the film. The boardroom scenes were too repetitive and boring, I mean, I get that it's talking about Japan's shit government, but a good movie would have gotten that out of the way in half an hour and would focus on having well rounded and interesting characters. Gojira managed to have it's allegory, but also had characters to get invested in. I couldn't give half a shit if any of Shin's character's died, I don't know them and they act like robots. 2 great kaiju scenes don't make a whole movie good.
