>>91570226yes, a bit of background would be best. not going to advise you to read the legion from the beginning, but maybe study a few back issues. check out archives 9-13, which are conveniently scanned should be available on most download sites (libgen for example). earlier stuff is a bit unfocused and clunky due to silver age shenannigans.
Anyway after the end of archive 13 and before you hit the part you're at there's another 50 or so issues to read (actually less I think), but it's all quite entertaining.
a problem you might hit is the series' naming conventions. Legion of Super-Heroes vol 2 is seemingly hitting high numbers out of nowhere, but that's because the title was originally called Superboy Vol 1. it got renamed later to Superboy: Starring the Legion of Super Heroes, then Superboy and the Legion of Super Heroes until they finally dropped the Superboy name alltogether (because he was hardly in the book any more anyway) and just called it Legion of Super Heroes Vol 2 (it's vol 2 because there's some 4 issue reprint collection named Legion of Super Heroes Vol 1 already).
It may also get confusing when you come to where you already are, because they reset the title to Vol 3 but they also let the Vol 2 numbering run on as "Tales of the Legion of Super Heroes" and kept the high numbers, which ran parallel to LoSH Vol 3. After a certain number, which eludes me right now, it was only reprints though.
So yeah, welcome to
THE WOOOOOORLD OF TOMORROW!
