That was common. It's probably a shorter sword or dagger along with another katana

As we saw in the pilot, the magic sword was kept on a pedestal also

In the first episode his father said it was a tool and that Jack shouldn't rely on it etc. etc. It's a plot point that disappears after the first episode and as cliche as it sounds I don't think Jack needs it nor will he go back to the past but instead fight for a better future.

It can hurt him, it can trap him for five years or so but I don't think Jack needs it to permanently destroy Aku. It's like the other anon said, his dad told him not to rely on the sword because it's just that, a sword. A sharp piece of metal doesn't have the capacity for good, but Jack does.

Also Aku replicated himself a lot. Birth of Evil has a bunch of Aku's taking soldier armour and weapons and laughing at Jack's dad before he gets imprisoned.

That we know of. I don't think Jack's dad would've scolded him for wielding the sword if there wasn't a trick to it. There has to be a way to permanently destroy Aku instead of seal him temporarily.

Sword was magic, but not unique. If Jack could find any other magic sword like Excalibur or some shit lying around, he could kill Aku.

we've seen other magic swords, the Scotsman had one, but that doesn't mean they can harm Aku

besides that image means nothing, samurai traditionally wear two swords, one long sword used in open spaces and one short sword used indoors

also we know for a fact that Jack's father didn't just carry the sword around with him

I notice. Samurai Jack's Mother looks even sexier in Season 5. Both OP's pic and mine took place during flashbacks when Young Jack was already a growing boy. The character designers made his mother look even younger at that time.
