>>90753557I don't dislike him personally or his work but I'll give you this, Moore can definitely get his head up his ass through sheer volition.
No real explanation, the whim just takes him.
One matter in that post
>>90752927 that's vexed me is his stance on the term Graphic Novel. Admittedly it has been misused, but he and his ilk have gone to lengths to discredit the term entirely just to shame comic readers.
I suspect it stems from Watchmen being labelled as such and for whatever reason that became one of those things that tangles his beard.
The thing is JIM STERANKO was working on what was termed a graphic novel back in '76, a good decade before Watchmen even existed, with Chandler: Red Tide. So they're an actual thing, with actual definition regardless of any confusion or marketing antics.
It wasn't something just made up to sell superhero shit.
I'm no historian on every hallmark in comics even, the first time the argument on what a GN is came up however many years ago on /co/ it took me all of 5 minutes to google and learn what's what.
Yet somehow Moore with all his years in the industry fucked up that much, that long. He could and should have just kept his shit to himself.
And it's the years spent on this are what brings my piss to a boil so much I can go on at length while the teabag brews, because ever since that first argument until today every few months I still find someone like Moore regurgitating their misunderstanding on the term as though it's a valid mockery. As in, they don't know what GN means but anyone who uses it is a tryhard.
What.
Fuck me, I can't stand that thinking.
After hearing Steranko slapped Bob Kane like the bitch he was I have no idea why he never gave Moore a buzz to sort him out. He'd be well within his rights and end the matter. Instead the next time a popular trade hits shelves or gets a movie, riles another crusade against capeshit, and we're right back to square one.
