While it's clearly on one of the great lakes, the surrounding area is hilly and densely forested, I'd probably place Sherman somewhere on lake Eerie, around upstate New York, Pennsylvania, or Ohio.
In any case, there's no canonical state for it, so it doesn't go on the map.
