It was Amazi-Girl. Amber has those blush marks, AG does not. The mask is incidental, but he decided to have a different visual signifier so there can be absolutely no ambiguity on who is who, despite that being entirely against the point of a DID character.

Also, the break up stuff is entirely incongruous with the reconciliation of Amazi-Girl and Sal.

AG basically said that *she* was stalking Sal to protect her from Amber. Basically, Amber will do something rash to Sal, but Amazi-Girl won't because of her morals. (Don't ask me why not stalking Sal at all wasn't an option.) She admitted that she didn't like Sal, but it's made pretty clear that she doesn't have the same deep hate for her that Amber does.

Why, then, was *Amazi-Girl* so incredibly pissed off at Danny for talking to Sal? Wouldn't that make way more sense coming from Amber? Wouldn't Amazi-Girl's inherent upstanding nature cause her to level with Danny instead of just losing her shit entirely? Danny's totally right to be pissed, because it doesn't make any damn sense.

In a way the new strip is kinda lampshading how little sense the breakup made in the context of how well AG and Sal get along now. Willis could have written Amazi-Girl as continuing to hate Sal while hiding that hate, but instead they moved past begrudging respect into full on team-up way too fast.

Once again, I think much of this would've been avoided if Amazi-Girl had ended her grudge with Sal by dealing with her specific issues with her instead of feeling bad about generic racial guilt.

I will actually say that, as the girl with DID boyfriend, there are small things that key you off.

The other personalities have their own hormonal makeup and stuff, so things are different. One person (Alter) can be deathly allergic to something, while the other (Main) is not. If Main is allergic to carrots, Alter may not be.

I will also attest to that my boyfriend smells different when he's swapped out. It's like sleeping in the same bed with an acquaintance and is just as uncomfortable. His body language is also completely different.

I'd say that's a little harder to visually communicate in a comic (although in >>89884417, you can see a distinct visual difference in how she stands), so if he's going to go with DID (which I'll agree he seems to be backpedaling on), then he's not entirely wrong on this one.

To be blunt, Amber is full of crap. There are certain people who will pretend to have separate personalities in order to foist responsibility off one someone other than themselves.

Here's how you can tell the difference (especially with a significant other): if Alter upsets you, then Main will feel awful because they weren't able to stop it from happening. They will sincerely apologize.

People who are faking tend to shrug off things like that.

The only way it'd fit as presented is that Amber is having a slow-burning mental breakdown from compartmentalizing her feelings and impulses between Amber and Amazi-Girl. She doesn't have DID but she's starting to treat Amber and Amazi-Girl as two separate people she switches between while retaining enough overlap that they feed off each other.

You have to consider it from Amber's perspective. Sal's this mostly blank slate that's existed in Amber's mind for five years that is distant and not something she has to think about often. She's had five years to build an idea of Sal in her head that features a lot of carryover for her issues with her dad. Meanwhile the trauma from her dad is relatively low-key and constant. She's had her entire life to develop coping strategies for her dad, but Sal was just a bogeyman until a month ago.

So, this basically confirms that the inconsistencies are real, but they're "on purpose."

For example, calling Danny stupid definitely seems like more of an Amber move. Although who knows if that's actually Amazi-Girl or Amber saying, she's doing voice, but it could be Amber putting it on.

The thing that really annoys me about this is that they managed to discuss the break-up without Amber showing any concern for Danny at all. It just became the "Amber's Issues" show, again. As soon as he appears in the story, he's shown to be pretty judgy. While in some contexts what he said to Dorothy would sound like him being a realist, he comes off as having no faith in Dorothy at all.

Everything else Danny's done has been the path of least resistance, doing whatever it takes to make himself look good. When he does that, he acts out of selfishness. When has he ever done anything nice for anyone?

This isn't to say he's a bad person or character or whatever. He's still better than nearly everyone in the cast, but he definitely has his turd moments.

Panic attacks sometimes have specific triggers, but many of them happen over literally nothing.

For Amber, being around Sal is extremely stressful and apparently triggering. I know I've had to stave off panic attacks for a couple of hours just to function like a normal person until later. I assume that's what she was doing.

True, but there's a difference between derailing a story and not having much of a story at all. And the latter was the case throughout the past month and a half or whatever. Whenever this day started.

Just look at how many plotlines were wrapped up in this day alone. Walky's math problems, Leslie and Robin's relationship, Dorothy's issues with her image, Billie's issues with missing Ruth, the whole goddamn Rapin' Ryan scenario... It's just amazing how Willis felt the need to tie them all up without letting them progress naturally.

The thing is that writing therapy is generally better done when it's, you know, private. You don't put that shit on the internet for all and sundry to read. Negative reactions from assholes (which we're all innately familiar with) might undo any good feelings she gets out of it. And positive reactions might skew things.

It'd be interesting to see how posting her thoughts on a platform as heavily moderated as DoA's comments section affects her vs writing about her thoughts in a journal.

I've known quite a few trans men, and it's actually pretty much impossible to tell with all of them once they're fully transitioned and have had enough testosterone to make up for lost time. They can grow facial hair and have deeper voices and everything.

One of the trans women I know was already effeminate in appearance, so she's pulling it off pretty well. Except for the sorta obvious falsetto. She has an amazing vocal range and can pull off nearly every part of passing.

Nah, there's still copying and pasting. I think Willis' art flow is that he draws character line-art first before doing backgrounds, and he sketches, inks, and colors flats into the line-art before copying/pasting, after which he goes in and changes minor details such as facial expressions or arm movements and adds shadows/highlights.

Carla has her own room because she's a second-year student. There's no mystery or 'but... why does she have one?' aspect to this.

Unless this university functions drastically different than the others I'm familiar with, second-years pretty much get single rooms on demand. You can have a roommate if you still want one, but most students go with the extra privacy and space of a single.

Wills would probably know this if he'd actually completed more than one year at university.

Where I went to school, if you wanted a private room, you had to have a medical reason or pay double. You have to pay for both sides of the room since you're using the entire thing and not just half of it like normal. Not sure how other schools work, but that's what I know.

Non-freshmen usually get priority on single rooms, but it's completely possible to end up sharing a room (though situations like Sarah's, where she's sharing a room with another freshman, are pretty rare now that I think about it). As far as I know, Carla is a sophomore. I assume her medical stuff would waive the fees for a full room anyway. I went through the disability department to get my own room because I have asthma, and I can't deal with the perfumes, hairsprays, etc. that most girls use. (I of course ended up with the worst roommate possible when the dorms were overbooked and they put someone with me anyway. It lasted less than two months.)

I can't speak for all of the alt-right, but I can say that "nerve to exist and want things" isn't what I personally fight against. I've been poor, and I know that it's no excuse for the shit that slum people get up to.

The only way these "poor minorities" will fix their shit is if they want to fix their shit. The method of coddling them and giving them free stuff hasn't worked and will never fucking work.

I ain't going to say that you had it easy, I'm not going to say that you didn't work hard, and I'm not going to say that there aren't poor people who are just lazy arseholes. I am, however, going to say that it's a lot harder for an entire community to up and improve itself than it is for one person. Especially if the community has extenuating circumstances fucking it up, like a lot of minority communities do.

And this isn't just a leftie thing and it isn't just a minority thing. There are tons of poor white communities where the local mill or factory's gone out of business, what jobs are left are dead-ended, half the young people leave for the city and the other half blow each other up making meth. Yeah, you can move out of there, but some people can't and some people won't.

That said I don't at all understand her fascination with this baby level arts and crafts project. Like why would Joyce have applied any sort of math or engineering into "water jugs to keep her feet off the filthy bathroom floor"

As a girl, I would rather have 5 Carlas in the bathroom than put up with people who try to police other people's personal business.

When you're in the bathroom, you're generally hoping to keep to yourself and not make eye contact with anyone. Carla was taking a shower at night to avoid being around people.

Carla's superiority complex, however, deemed that Joyce's problem needed to be fixed so Carla could show off.

Keep your head out of our bathroom and stop trying to say that Carla is being predatory. Carla is annoying, not predatory, here.

Let's try to figure this out in a classic But/Therefore manner.

So Ruth and Billie are seeing each other.
BUT Mary learns about this.
THEREFORE... Nothing.

Later on, Carla is skating in the hallway and Mary asks her to stop.
BUT Carla refuses.
THEREFORE Mary ruins her skates.
BUT Carla continues causing a ruckus.
THEREFORE Mary makes a transphobic statement.
BUT Ruth enters the scene out of nowhere.
THEREFORE Mary reveals her ploy to blackmail Ruth in order to bring an actual sense of peace to the floor.
BUT nobody listens to Mary.
THEREFORE... Nothing.

Meanwhile, Ruth and Billie have to hide evidence of their tryst, and it leads to the two separating (despite living on the same goddamn floor).
BUT Ruth apparently can't handle being broken up due to some kind of crippling co-dependency issue, possibly an internal idea linking physical affection and validation.
THEREFORE Ruth succumbs to depression and considers suicide-by-sleeping.
BUT Carla, for some reason or other, realizes this is happening and that Ruth is "suicidal".
THEREFORE she tells Billie about this, who subsequently barges in to check on her.
BUT... Nothing.

I don't see how Mary is linked to Ruth's suicidal tendencies, save perhaps for her being at the door when Billie barges in.
I dunno. I guess Willis has the problem that Marvel Comics has and there aren't enough villains to go around, so he makes antagonists out of anybody.
