Unfortunately, it's obvious that after Secret Wars when Miles, Sam and Kamala were slapped as the Teen Trio giving them a lot of arcs within the wider MU, Willow is trying to connect what made Kamala great with those arcs and it's a hit and miss situation.
See, the reason that Kamala's Secret War stuff worked is that it wasn't HER who was specifically affected. I mean yes the whole incursion stuff did wreck her life. But she was just one of the many who had to deal with it. She had no real impact ultimately, but you saw an event from the eyes of a normal, or at least as normal as you can get, person.
With Civil War II and Champions she specifically is affected and worse, is given an arc that Willow has no real creative control over. Now, Bendis loves that shit happening with Miles as it makes the 'best' despite the fact it doesn't fit the guy, but Willow doesn't as Kamala leading a team this early obviously wasn't part of what she wanted and so it fucks up her plans.
