>>88919580I think most of it is due to the internet paired with a couple social things.
Before the internet- and this is true of most fetishes- if you liked something out of the norm you thought you were a lone weirdo. Their was no way to be exposed to communities or pornography that wasn't mostly catered to extremely broad, mainstream tastes.
But with the internet, you could go online and see whole groups of people who liked what you did, and find out what you're into. I remember my first exposure to the fetish was with sites like Stuffed Online, and that opened me up to whole new realms of things to check out. And now that more people are on the internet than ever, more people are getting exposed to things easier.
Plus let's not downplay things like rap videos, where jiggling flesh is easily visible. Plus America has big issues with obesity due to poor quality food, which means more people are exposed to fat as a normal thing. And people tend to have a very vocal reaction to fat since fat people are one of the few groups you can actively hate and still be considered acceptable in society; if somebody doesn't feel as disgusted as everybody else does, they may wonder why, get curious, and fall down the rabbit hole.
Basically, there's just a ton more ways to be exposed to the fetish now, and since there's a sizable community people are more likely to join in instead of suppressing their urges.
