We're still just in S3, and things are getting jucier with Thrawn, Kallus and Maul, but there's some weaker episodes (Hondo and the pig) and some unrelated stronger ones (old CIS droids want one last battle against Rex and the Jedi).

We had a theory that he was an Umbaran that served the Empire. It was a pretty cool headcanon that sort of made sense. He literally fit Umbaran species characteristics to a tee.

Thanks mate, I laughed so hard at this. There was some premium stuff going on, I remember one writeanon making some AU with Tua and a beheading-escaping Aresko having a talk, that was very bittersweet. Also this greentext was also pretty neat.

He didn't dislike it, he just never really read much of it.

He LOVES comics though and has reportedly read Dark Empire and the Thrawn Trilogy comic adaption etc and loved them.
He's a visual guy. Books aren't visually interesting.

Thanks for that link! I guess we need to get more creative again or have a re-watch together to get the creative juices flowing again. I guess it was also easier with Aresko since he's that much like us (remember the penchant for Neimodian culture just because he looked like some weeb?) whereas Officer Sheep Face lacks some standing out factor.

If you're looking for good Thrawn action, it's a slow burn. He's only appeared a handful of times and he hasn't really done much. It's clear they are setting up a big payoff with him but so far it's a bit frustrating to see him do very little.

Overall the season has been pretty good though.

I imagine it would have to have been made public pretty quickly, because the New Republic would have needed to re-write the Empire's propaganda narrative about the Jedi "coup attempt", and without Anakin becoming Vader it wouldn't really make any sense.

Or I guess they could perform their own massive cover-up and fabricate their own story to protect Anakin's reputation, but why would they bother?

In the new canon in the book bloodlines, it gets leaked that Leia is the daughter of Darth Vader in an attempt to discredit her. It's a recording of Bail saying she is the daughter of Anakin Skywalker who became Vader so its very common knowledge now in a post ROTJ universe.

His design went through a thousand revisions, starting from Lucas and Arndt all the way to JJ and Kasdan.

The original designs were more monstrous and alien in general (more Grievous than Vader). Eventually JJ settled on the whole pretty boy cosplaying as Vader thing to emphasize how much of a tryhard Kylo is.

It's going well. Thawn is slowly learning the Rebels' tactics and weaknesses, building up to his planned assault to crush them in one swift blow.

Maul on the other hand is still trying to seduce Ezra and bring out his edgy ways, while also setting up a story that seemingly has implications of crossing paths with a big movie character or two.

That being said, doesn't mean they don't have some A-Wings in storage somewhere, or they don't get more later. If they decided to twist things to have Thrawn wreck the Squadron, they certainly can. Dave's tweaked and changed his ideas and plans in the past. TCW ended up being vastly different to his original concepts, some of which are visibly dropped in the show. (The entire use of the Twilight, for example)

Sure its not Game of Thrones style or TCW-tier where half the non-movie characters end up dead, but it would be a significant loss to the Rebellion, and a mature lesson of loss for the characters and younger viewers.

Plus that sounds like it is setting Thrawn up for later use where he may have more freedom to fight more expendable heroes, so that wouldn't be a bad thing either.

Ahsoka was never actually leaving TCW, just the Jedi order.

They did write her out of Rebels though, because it "isn't her story", they just wanted her to have closure for the TCW arc, which culminated in a pretty great Vader fight, so no complaints.

If Thrawn gets written out of the show, it will only be after he is satisfied with his blow against the Rebels, which I am sure will be exciting to watch, so again, no complaints here if that happens. Not everybody has to die/stick around til the final episode, especially with a multimedia franchise where all the books, movies and comics are connected. I'm sure Thrawn will be popping up everywhere once he leaved the show, until they find a place to end his story.

But to answer your original question, now that we've cleared up your poor terminology. No, their blades don't look different on the whole. ~3000BBY- Rakata Empire
~2000BBY- Hundred Year Darkness/Start of Jedi v. Sith
~1500BBY- Mandalorian Wars/Sack of Coruscant/Revan
~1000BBY- Final Collapse of the Sith Empire/Darth Bane/Establishment of "New" Republic.

Bottom line up front I am bored and trying to make a sensible Old Republic (that feels old) and I am trying get the timelines right. I think the Rakata work as an Antediluvian/Atlantis type of civilization, but I am worried about sending anything back 3000 years and that would necessitate too much of a technology gap.

Complete remodeling.
Make them actually alien. Even if humanoid, they would be still more alien, that you couldn't hypothetically just dress human in make up and rubber suit (taking advantage from media where only imagination are limits). They could be collective or even hive mind (kinda) of different species, somebody like canon Vong could appear as some of those. Technology wile still biotech, it would be not that standing out, would use same stuff, like hyperspace instead new bullshit.
Force relation, it should be clear they have their own warped use of it what gives impression of being fully immune only to be revealed at some point to be their alien take on Dark Side.
They philosophy and culture would be more alien, while you could recognize some aspect, it woulndt be clear. They wouldnt have any hate for technology, at least not in form they had in book.
They could take route of Tyranids/Zergs - as more hive mindish, assimilators who relly on numbers, guided by survival and desire to consume. Or Vorlons/Shadows who more culture oriented and philosophy oriented, focused on guiding Galaxy and purging it in necessary.
Actually those brain things would be in charge of Vong, instead tools.
Their motivation should be force oriented. Either by aquiring force users from other galaxies or trying to guide them in their views.
This could leave potential if some kind of peaceful resolution or redemption avoiding total genotical outcome.

Also take their invasion far into future, like at least thousand years later to give happy ending for Galaxy in EU times. And dont make what ever goverment and armies dealing with them into retards just so brave heroes could save galaxy.

TPM- pretty much just the movie, not any better or worse. Mentions Darth Bane though.
AOTC- Lots of bonus content. added Tatooine scenes with Shmi and the Lars family are great.
ROTS- most will say this is better than the movie. It's not. The author spends half the book covering one third of the movie and has to rush the shit out of the end. The writing style is also very... fedora.
TFA- haven't read, i've heard it sucks
R1- read an excerpt of K2-SO's death, seems pretty well written

Listen Broseph Smith, I'm a rebel at heart, always sided with them and loved their underdog attitude.
But even I want a change of pace every now and then. I said this >>88815832 sounds like a cool idea because I've always wanted to see just the average joes and how they act/react towards the main events.
Like this short film my buddy and will be filming soon based on before TPM. We're just playing two pilots in a ship discussing the force and what they think it is. At the end it shows that they're taking Qui-Gon Jinn to Obi-Wan's homeworld to pick him up.

Other galaxy is still same universe, there is no reason to asume that other galaxies have no access to hyperspace.
Also aliens who are masters of biotechnology would be good candidate for someone who is also master of hyperspace tech since you mentioned how it was from learning of how space creatures travel that technology was developed.
Also fact they traveled from one galaxy to another would explain already their status as masters of hyperspace and it would make it plausible for them to learn about hyperspace lanes and could give them interesting edge over this galaxy in warfare.

This. This would have made sense for Luke's character. His success in the OT was because of him NOT being like the old Jedi back in the PT days.

But in TFA he's made the exact same mistakes and became an old hermit who just said screw it to all his friends. Those friends he skipped training for to save.

Luke was supposed to be more than a Jedi.

Yeah the OT lightsaber choreography isn't anything to hit home about. But in the OT it look more like they were correlating to real medieval knights sword dueling, which to me was a more believable analogy.

You really should watch the behind the scenes to the fight because it was created by acutal swordsmen. It's not to be 100% realistic but there was a lot of thought and moment put into the styles. If notice in TPM, there's barley any time to block or counter, it's quick with no time for mistakes.

Please spare me that Totally TPM video. It was made as a joke not something serious; the creator admits it and regrets it attracted the wrong type of people..

Except for when they'd accelerate the movements from strikes to a change in stance to a strike again. Though they got better in the later seasons and they didn't have to worry about actors hurting themselves.

They weren't. Lucas intentionally had Obi-wan and Vader's duel to be more Kendo-based.

The rest in TESB and RoTJ was just meant as an exaggeration of fantasy sword fighting. It didn't take until the PT for George to finally get to do what he always wanted to do.

Personally dislike the ROTJ choreography the most. It looked like they were deliberately moving slow and exaggerating the weight of the blades. There are times Hamill looks like he's expecting blade strikes and he pauses for a few seconds for a hit to be made. I think adywan could clean it up like his Obi-Vader fight. Mor

They wanted to train him to be an assassin for them, to kill Vader, regardless of their relation to each other.
Luke chose to do the opposite, which proved to be the superior choice. He redeemed his dad and saved the galaxy.

It's not a fan edit that changes the plot or story. It just adds some changes to the film that I personally enjoy. Like the puppets/masks in the cantina that blink or have more movement. Or making the Death Star battle more dramatic like the novelization.

The only thing I hate about his edit is putting the Death Star above a planet.

Before then what would become the cross guards was mostly just a block to help hold the hand stationary on the grip.

Christianity and its symbolism didn't really take hold for the vikings (where that sword is from) until the 13th century.

Instead we see widening of the crossguard as fighting styles that incorporate binds start to become popular, something that tended to happen when using heavier armors as it would allow you to better attack and kill your opponent. In cultures that lacked this kind of mentality you tend to have much smaller guards on their swords.

For the most part, the small guard that was present on swords since the early Gladius was generally enough to deflect a blade away from the hands.

as things go further on, the crossguard starts to curve forward, allowing for easier trapping of an enemy's blade, as seen in many two handed weapons and falchions. As backswords and dueling become popular the guards tended to be bent over the hand, evnetually making the sabre style hand guard and basket hilts.

None of this says that Christianity's symbolism may not have played a role, but the guard in it's various forms did serve a function, and its shape changed based on the function it needed to serve.

Because it was about feelings not purpose. It's not a real weapon, after all

It looked more like a knight's sword because that's the type of feeling the designer wanted the audience to have.
Like Kylo's a crusader or an extreme monk.

Kylo's character was all about that type of suggestion. The Dark Side was about rigid order and problems with control. Whereas the Light is all about freedom and improvisation, like Rey.

Kylo was mean to remind people of an angry repressed religious knight and the crossguards helped that.

I think they're starting to feel like they're falling behind.
The Original Trilogy was 40 years ago, so naturally the franchise evolved from there, and so did the community.
But people like RLM got stuck in the 80's. They didn't move on with Star Wars, they became stubborn.
