She finished her scenes for 8 already, the impact will be in episode 9 unless they somehow fabricate Leia's death in 8.

Mark didn't even post much, he was tighy with Carrie so if they work a scene with Luke reacting to her death that shit will be real.

I walked into the theater with my phone's brightness turned all the way down so I could shitpost WE WUZ KANGZ and #BLACKED memes in real time, but they were honestly the best part of the movie.

Though if /tv/ is to be believed at all (I'm not convinced it ever should be,) then they're going to have Finn fall in love with some tsundere Asian grill that may or may not be a spy.

Though I'm happy they're possibly giving him his own storyline. Rey just doesn't cut it as it stands. She ever needs to be full Revan mindwipe or go dark. Whether she finds redemption or not isn't important, what matters is the arc.

Finn has an arc, FinnxPoe has an arc, and now the /are Carrie/ is in Valhalla, they're the only interesting arcs left besides Luke unless something changes.

It's such a shame. I don't think they need to create a new character to have a love interest for Finn, since Poe is such a good choice.
But I guess Disney/Lucasfilm/KK just aren't "bold" enough to actually go through with it.

I think, if you want to talk about representation male to male homosexuality isn't very well represented.

Female to female is easy, because for some reason that's more accepted. Just look at what Blizzard did with Tracer. Her being "gay" is just a marketing ploy, Blizz don't give a shit what their characters sexual preference is, but it's good bait for those who do.

Most of R1 was absolute shit, but doing ballsy shit like making the ending literally Saving Private Ryan in Space proves that SW is by no means bound to the OT formula when it's handled properly.

I think he just had a better crew, plus a lot of the rebel ships there had already taken damage. One of Raddus's guys was reporting that their shields were taking a beating earlier in the battle.

TFA was very much a photocopy of New Hope.
Rogue One was something new and made the plot feel meaningful in the end where as TFA was just a treasure hunt build up to Luke's reveal.

I like the new take on lightsaber battles. Brutal, heavy blows, making it feel more like an actual swordfight instead of tapping plastic rods or dancing.

I could watch that duel all day if not for TFA constantly cutting in the trench run and ruining my immersion.

I like his helmet and hood look and the fact that his outfit is knight-like, which is what his group is called, and roughed up because he's a rougher character. I hated his saber at first but it grew on me when they gave it an explanation that made sense within the lore and added character.

His design is definitely not one of the problems I have with the character.

The had a glow in a few scenes of the prequels, usually in scenes where the ambient lighting is darker.

It's the same in TFA, really the only time you notice the glow is during the dark scenes. The entire duel was set in dark scenery.

Most realistic villains don't think they're evil, and pathetic people often do terrible things to cover their own insecurity. What makes a "good" villain is subjective. I find mustache twirlers fun but ultimately boring and lacking depth.

I think we just might towards the end of eight.

Rey gets trapped in a Dark Side focused place.

Snoke draws upon those feelings of abandonment and anger she's suppressed and starts drawing that out.

She see's a projection of her parents walking away from her as she calls out for them to come back. They walk on till she lashes out with her lightsaber wildly cutting at the air as the projections vanish.

Keeps slashing as the next passage opens up and she runs towards it only to be swallowed by further darkness.

Ends with her screaming into the darkness.

It's funny how Mark was considered a heart throb back then when every interview and set photo showed him to be very much a nerd and geek with that "golly gee willickers" personality just beaming out of him. His scoring the role of Luke and what he would eventually become by RotJ was the perfect slam dunk, and he played every bit of development perfectly. Part of that might be lent to his car accident practically aging his face a few years, but he definitely worked it to his advantage.

No, that's not how it works.

Force Ghosts aren't waiting to fulfill some sort of purpose.

Normally, when living things die, their Living Force feeds into the Cosmic Force and becomes one with it. Qui-Gon, Yoda, and Obi-Wan have all learned how to preserve their consciousness in The Force upon death. They basically stopped their consciousness from being lost forever to the Cosmic Force. As far as how Anakin became a Force Ghost, we don't exactly have a 100% canon answer. Dave Filoni knows why, but isn't going to tell us yet. The Databank on the SW website says that his selfless sacrifice to save his son allowed Yoda and Obi-Wan to preserve his consciousness.

Best I can infer is that they are allowed to play a passive role however life is for the living. They can guide and influence, but they cannot just do things on their own. Ultimately the living must act to do or do not. I say "living" however it could just be that they are servitors of fate, not fate itself. It was Luke's destiny to face on his own.

Plus, the technique isn't exactly something that is known. AFAIK, the only way to learn it is from the Priestesses or from people who have been taught the technique(like Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Yoda)

The novels toned Starkiller down substantially.

Sam Witwer had an interesting commentary on the matter when he streamed himself playing the force unleashed. The powers of characters should always be taken wit a grain of salt. When a videogame character or a cartoon does something over the top we can take it at face value, but in live action it would break suspension of disbelief.

Chirrut wanted to help Jyn. Nothing else going for him, he links himself to a cause. Baz had nobody else to hang with besides his friend, so he ended up dragged only wherever Chirrut wanted to go. Of course it helps that they were captured by Saw's people, thrown in prison with Cassian and escaped with him. Afterward Chirrut just kept along with the others.

Think about it. Chirrut keeps a sliver of Kyber Crystal in his staff so he can sense where the tip is. He's Force Sensitive but he cannot "use" the Force. No powers beyond his senses.

So before the Empire he could FEEL the Temple of the Whills. The place was alive with the Force. After the Empire moved in they started ripping the temple apart and harvesting the Kybers. The Temple died.

Then along comes Jyn and immediately he senses the Kyber necklace she wears. It must feel familiar to him, like home.He latches onto her cause over Saw's because she has the necklace.

I don't know if that's kind of cute or sad. Feels like both.

3. by ROTS they had been fighting with these guys for 3 years

But why in the EU or Disney EU (TCW etc) does no one make a bigger deal out the fact that the template for the clone army was seen with the leader of the separatists on Geonosis?

Again, it's not the focus of the films, and George makes it clear that the Jedi know they are in a tough spot (see point 2 above).

Canon is dictated by the Lucasfilm Story Group, who began as an initiative in 2012 and officially became a thing in 2013. They work with authors, filmmakers, developers, etc to make sure what they create aligns with Canon.

Lucasfilm made the decision to wipe out all of the old books, comics, games. This was planned all the way back in summer of 2012, before the buyout happened.

The only things to remain canon were the things that George was directly involved in: Episodes 1-6 and TCW. One comic that was based on an unmade arc of TCW(Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir) also remained canon. Everything else released before April 25, 2014 is not canon. This includes SWTOR, despite new expansions releasing.

Unless specified otherwise, everything released after April 25, 2014 is officially Canon.

When was she the leader? And her fighting skills were killing two low level space gimps, big whoop. She ends up running repeatedly from fights with actual soldiers/a Dark Sider and only wins because that's the way the Force rolls with main characters.

Also when did she ever fly better than Han? She hadn't even flown outside of Jakku until the movie and it was Han's super awesome piloting that saved them from the Rathtars/gangs and were the only ones super awesome enough to bypass to Starkiller Base's shield and somehow still land. And Finn not being as good with a lightsaber? It's not like they trained for that. He couldn't even take TR-8R with it. Blame JJ for removing and then returning the blaster he gave Finn between scenes.

And though I hate to knock Chewie he spent the entirety of ESB unable to fix the Falcon, with help. Rey "fixed" it by just ripping out a component that both she and Han had already identified would be a problem.

How do you know she doesn't know what the Mind Trick is? She's aware of the Jedi, she just thought they were a myth. Then Han tells her it is true, all of it. Now she'll believe a Jedi can do anything no matter how impossible. Luke, on the other hand, had too much of his uncle in him. He cannot do things he thinks are impossible, and they are impossible because he believes them to be. Rey is literally the opposite.

Even then we don't see her use the Jedi Mind Trick. No hand waving. She just invades a mind with the Force as was just done to her, and as she managed to reverse on Kylo Ren. Even then it took her several tries.

How did she ever outmaneuver them? She never lost them. She kept wrecking crap. She tried to trick them into crashing once and it failed. Finn shot down one but her flying got Finn's gun fucked up. Flying into that SSD turned out to be a huge mistake given we saw the TIE able to target her because she has no room to maneuver - and this was after Finn told her to fly low because it fucks with their targeting. She ends up getting the Falcon shot several more times because of this, groans, "Oh no" and has to ditch the SSD. Her big trick was lining up Finn's shot which she doesn't even know how she did. But we do given this was her first indication of Force Sensitivity.

And yet again - I don't know how you people still exist that haven't learned this yet - she flat out says in the movie it wasn't her first time flying.

Sure. Nu Canon is full of people using the Force on instinct. Ezra performed a Force Jump just by watching Kanan do it and he didn't even know about the Force yet. He also performed a Force Push on instinct to save Zeb before Kanan taught him anything. In fact it was this display that convinced Kanan to take Ezra's training seriously. Similarly Ventress as a kid instinctively used a Force Push to kill some pirate threatening the Jedi who would become her Jedi Master after he witnessed her powers.

You're overall correct but I can think of two scenes where it was not quite up to the same standard. There were probably at least two more.

Also were the Death Star gunners themselves CGI? They seemed just a little off.It could have been weird after-effects to remove inconvenient set-reflections from their shiny helmets though.

We didn't need 30 mins of Luke as a kid learning to pilot ships or work on droids and we don't need it for Rey either. Nobody wants to watch that when many more interesting things can be shown.

Even Luke's training on Dagobah was minimal and he didn't learn much there. It only served the purpose of creating tension when Luke was forced to either stay there and finish, endangering his friends, or rescue his friends, endangering himself and leaving his training unfinished. We didn't need to see Luke finish his fucking training between ESB and RotJ.

They were only saying that about a handful of the Tales stories that DID eventually make tehir way into canon, like that one mercenary guy who lost his son to a Dark Jedi and went around the galaxy using the Dark Jedi's lost lightsaber to pretend to be a Jedi. He later showed up in either Empire or Rebellion. Or that Wedge comic that showed how he eventually joined the rebellion (And briefly turned into Jackie Chan, actually I think even that one was listed as questionably canon to legends.) Even after that he wasn't the greatest teacher. If Star Wars fans think that makes him a Mary Sue, then Star Wars fans are far dumber and nitpickier than I already knew they were, which is saying a fucking lot.

Kyle's only "Mary Sue" qualities is that he's a video game character and is as good as the player is at shooting or abusing force mechanics on the AI.

And he does it all without the Force (except apparently subconsciously).

Later he engages a Star Destroyer heads on and survives. Really it is just no fucking contest. In ROTJ Lando successfully navigates the innards of the Death Star II and escapes before it explodes, only losing the radar dish. That was a helluva lot more impressive than Rey's less than a minute in an SSD's engine.

Rogue One sucked because if you remove the fantasy element Jedi, Sith, the Force and Lightsabers you're left with a blander version of series that have done the sci-fi battles and space western thing better, like Mass Effect of Firefly.

Not really. They didn't officially form until after the buyout, but prior to their formation they were more of an initiative in the summer of 2012, before the buyout.

In any case, they are in charge of canon.
