In the 90's people hated loser Kyle Rayner so DC would bait the return of the Corps every three months. Only to have 1-2 old lanterns appear for a couple pages in the issue then back to Kyle being a loner loser all over again. Then bait with more return of the corps a few months later. They did that shit for years.
The other corps lanterns always turned out to be either a dream, time travelers who went home again, delusions made up by Kyle, or some villain plot. And he was right back to being the only one again and his life was required to suck.
Now Marvel is doing the same shit.
