>>87923647It's because American comics (cape comics especially) has been in an identity crisis since the 80's, where they've been marketing children's characters to adults but have always been unsure exactly how to do that.
Their has been a fair few that have done that well, don't get me wrong, I'm a superhero fan, but many just misjudge what 'mature' means in that context and instead pander to a very immature definition of the word 'adult' based more on what that word means in the context of MPAA rating than in what it actually suggests.
That being said, I would like it if there were more superhero comics that were produced for kids again. But that won't happen because it's in the interests of Diamond, and therefore the major publishers, to keep their books geared towards the fanboy market.
