>>87650032>>87650691I found RWBY super cringey, but it eventually grew on me.
I have a sister who I mentioned it being a guilty pleasure to, and she also thought it was super cringey. But one day (without any input from me, btw) she found herself marathoning it and she also became a convert.
It's weird how it does that. It's my understanding these aren't isolated incedents either.
Some things to keep in mind is that it's an animated series that comes entirely out of Roosterteeth, and it's a pretty damn ambitious project. The soundtrack is incredible, and some of the fight choreography of the early volumes is jaw-dropping.
There are definitely aspects of it that are clumsily executed, but it feels forgivable. Aside from that, it kind of keeps me hooked with the promises of big reveals, speculation, new abilities. I don't frequent the general, but it seems like everyone has a character they shit on, but they also have characters that they love.
Also, in terms of juveniles seeking escapism in an immersive world that caters to their fantasies, the world it offers is reminiscent of elements from Harry Potter (the school environment) X-men (abilities unique to each character) Naruto (being put into squads) SU (personalized weapons and the promise of progressive themes).
And yes, these kind of add to the cringe factor, but I think a lot of people at some point wanted to make a show like this, and it's kind of a realization of that too.
