Rather centrist, and as the country is roughly split 50/50 between rep and dem.
But US Democrats are more to the right of European/Canadian liberals to begin with. Because the US in general is less liberal than the Europe and Canada and Democrats need to appeal to those voters.
They have long since accepted climate change, freedoms to abortion, adopted universal health care, marriage equality, have more lax drug laws, cut military spending, etc and this shit is more or less accepted even by their conservatives.
