I liked him in the movies, his comments at the end of AoU made it clear that he loves humanity because it is going to destroy itself, and that he views it as more important to watch humanity than to try to stop humanity.
Ultron wasn't the 'bad guy' in AoU because he wanted to destroy all humans, he was bad because he was forcing us to try to stop destroying ourselves. The thing he didn't understand is that by removing our freedom he destroys us just as much as if he kills us. Vision got that.
In Civil War he was great, the whole trying to cook, wearing people clothing, and his awkward romance with Scarlet Witch was interesting.
