>>86298884 As someone who is a huge Wizard of Oz fan, I don't know why, I just am, I watched the news about this movie very closely when it was first announced. It was going to be called Dorothy: The Return to Oz.
Firstly, this movie was actually kinda good. The animation was top notch and they someone how had huge A-list stars for the cast. The whole thing fell apart in the third act and that's why I think it wasn't worth a second viewing. It was funny, and pretty well timed, but then it just fell apart when they forced it all to have a happy ending, introduce the new cast to the old and have it all end in like 3 minutes. It had a Hotel Trans 2 ending. It came out of no where and, had a one minute fight, and then they won. The end!
So the marketing fucked up firstly. They leaked a clip on the website and it just featured Dorothy singing. That didn't gain any attraction cause it was such a random clip, that they were worried nobody wanted to see a movie about Dorothy. So they changed it to Legends, and made it look like it was about the other three instead. Hoooowever, the whole movie introduces three totally new characters and these guys were the backstory to another plot line. So by the poster you think you're going to go see an Oz movie with your favorite three dorks. Nope. You're in for a two hour musical with three new assholes and a Dorothy that is no older or wiser after like 4 years of being home.
The villain was interesting, but had an awful design so it was hard to watch him. He's got such a big a part too, so imagine half the movie is this jackass who you don't even like looking at. I think that's the whole problem with the movie (or other 3D movies that fail) you have to have good character design. The songs were forgettable, also not good for a full musical movie. I wish the movie was just about Dorothy and Scarecrow, with the Tinman and Lion in the background. Then it would have been interesting.
