>>85719567When it comes to old stuff there is basically a definite list. I'd read God Loves Man Kills, The Dark Phoenix Saga and just about any TPB from the Claremont era as you can find. Yes its as good as people say. My personal Favorite is New Mutants. It was the first Spin-off of the X-Men and it spawned a ton of popular and even cult characters. additionally Morrisons New X-Men but you wanted Character recommendations, so i'll throw them out
Cable- Hes had a ton of good stories so your in for a ride. Depending on who you are, you will either adore or hate 90s X-Force but that was his first major series he starred it. I like it for Nostalgia, but its not my fav. If you read that I would also recommend the last 15 ish issues of New Mutants (he first appeared at the end of New Mutants.) If you like Deadpool read the very fun and goofy series, Cable and Deadpool. Im not a big cable fan but its one of my favorite series of all time. Also Try Messiah Complex, Its Cable raising the possible Mutant messiah in a shitty alternate future, hanging out with Cyclops and running away from Bishop. Also try Cable : Messiah War.
Archangel : This guy had a rough start, a lot of boring stories and was constantly pushed to the back, but when Angel becomes Archangel he becomes a total bad ass. Start reading Simonson's X-Factor the first series where he is Archangel and you will definitely enjoy yourself. But if your not into Cyclops, Jean, Beast or Iceman, its not for you as its a team book. Next up I would recommend his time on the main X-Men team in the 90s. Uncanny X-Force by Rick Remender is also a fantastic set of stories heavily involving him. If you ever want to see if you like Warren as just plain old Angel, read X-Men Season 1.
Rictor- Read Simonson's X-Factor and late New Mutants. Sorry I don't really know him.
Wolverine- ok Bub, this guy is in fucking everything
