You want to talk about animation being ruined, look no further than the standardization and commercialization of animation over the decades. to put that pin on anyone, you'd have to go through every company that ever made a cartoon to sell a toy line. UPA is seen by the retard du jour as an entity that ruined animation simply because of what it wasn't: Disney.
It didn't use as many frames and didn't have as much visual complexity as Disney, therefore is shit. When you get into the habit of comparing everything to Disney as the gold standard, you cease to have an actual opinion on animation. Any critique on someone's triumphs or failings in your mind are only comparable to rotoscoped women and cute little animals scurrying about to musical cues on ones and twos.
The reason I bring up Disney and not a studio like WB or Fleischer is that they were far more experimental, and UPA actually had a few WB alums in their stable. To say that UPA ruined animation is to say that of Dada's effect on modern art: it didn't. Next biased question please.
