Anyone notice a lot of the lore and background of the Gems seems modeled on Transformers? The ancient asexual race that had a big Civil War that earth got wrapped up in? The caste system? The slow drip of learning more about what happened and the introduction of long lost characters over time? It actually heavily recalls Transformers Animated to me, especially with the hybrid mascot and the ancient superweapons all over the place.
