Nick was failing hard at being Nick, while Disney was doing it quite well, for better or for worse. Quack Pack felt as Nick as it could be, for being set in a more radical and hilarious version of the duckniverse. Mighty Ducks kinda did too. Can't think of any shows before or since that fell into that 'gleefully stupid selling-toys action series' mold. and if you hear about the behind the scenes shit that went on, you can see why. By the time it got to Weekenders they were like 'this is just disney channel now'
whereas the end of the 90s saw Nick running its shit into the ground even worse than CN did with the post-creator seasons of PPG and Dexter later on, and basically becoming a bipolar "only babies and jaded teenagers" network. But at least the older teen nick had some heart, their new shit was just... sad.
