>>84557753...let's be real, here. Founding member of the Avengers, yes. Inspiration for a dozen other heroes - not even remotely. Over the years, Carol's put in just as much time as an Avenger as Hank Pym.
>>84557638Carol is Marvel's Hal Jordan - a headstrong test pilot with powers granted from aliens. And we got that stinker of a Green Lantern movie, so I'm not sure "deserving" is the criteria you wanna use - it should be, can you make an interesting story with the character? And the answer is yes with a LOT of female heroes - Carol, Wanda, Natasha, Jen Walters, Kamala, Jessica Drew, Misty Knight, Monica Rambeau, Elsa Bloodstone... Hell, Ant-Man's version of Wasp was so strong, the sequel is "Ant-Man and the Wasp".
"People" aren't hard-pressed to find "good" female heroes. It's executives that think they won't sell - and that attitude is finally turning around, thanks to audiences flocking to Mad Max, Star Wars: TFA, Hunger Games, etc. Realistically, they've always sold well (Aliens, LotR, Kill Bill, Trinity in The Matrix trilogy, Sarah Connor...), but Hollywood attitudes are hard to change, especially when you're working with hundreds of millions of dollars.
If Captain Marvel does anywhere close to as well as the rest of the MCU, I guarantee we're gonna see more solo female hero films.
