Not the same anon but I'm under the impression he means Vader's injuries made him "normal". He will never reach his peak potential, he will never be as powerful as Sidious. He will always remain second best to Palpatine like Dooku and Maul.

I'm not sure. I mean he wouldn't have ever been more powerful to the Emperor as long as the Emperor could help it. He was Vader's Master and he was never going to give him any knowledge that would actually put him over the top. He knows personally what happens when the Master loses his usefulness to the pupil and he doesn't want to wake up to a pillow descending over his face.

Given they've wiped out nearly all of the Jedi and Sidious is confiscating and destroying as much of the old knowledge as he can, it's not like Vader has any other source of power to draw on but Sidious.

It's canon from Lucas and Storygroup that Vader is 80% as powerful as Palpatine. Immensely powerful but he will never surpass that 100% because of his injuries. That's the point. If Anakin was not wounded from that experience on Mustafar, he would have overtaken Palpaine. Palpatine even mused to Yoda that Vader would become more powerful than either of them. Sidious is powerful but he never could have stopped an uninjured Anakin.

I'd settle for a sorta rewrite of Outbound Flight, something that gives us a look into Chiss culture and Thrawn's first encounter with the greater galaxy

Lords of the Sith says he's more powerful now than he ever was, but one anon claims that's okay as long as his new max power is reduced by his injuries as opposed to when he wasn't injured.

There was at least one quote from Lucas posted. Most times I've seen the conversation come up it devolves into arguing over whether he lost midi-chlorians from his severed limbs or not. I don't know. Probably, but I'm still not sure it matters. Usually people hate it and bad things happen when midi-chlorians are suggested as power level indicators. Actually just power level talk in Star Wars period causes problems.

Vader/Anakin is stronger than he was in Revenge of the Sith. His connection to the Force has deepened and he has a greater understanding of it. He's learned from Mustafar to be patient and more trusting in the Force. You see evidence from this in new canon. I really really want to see a new Star Wars "franchise" based on characters we have never experienced before.

As great as the current canon is, there really isn't a lot of stories that don't revolve around already established movie characters. And the ones that aren't are always randomly throwing established characters into the mix. I would love to see a new series of movies, tv shows, and comics based around brand new characters, planets, and situations we have never seen before. Not a single cross-over with the mainline Star Wars AT ALL.

How would you feel about this? Do you think it would work? Any ideas for a story?

You're misunderstanding or perhaps I miswrote. Lucas said Vader is 80% of Palpatine. The storygroup is respecting this decision in new canon. Vader is strong and very powerful but he can never directly challenge Palpatine anymore. We've seen this in the Vader comics and LoTS.

I don't think we ever heard exactly why Sidious kidnapped Maul from Talzin. I think sensing his potential is a logical enough possibility, though given how far ahead Sheev likes to plan maybe a kind hostage to keep Talzin in check. He turns her own son into his Apprentice and has Maul's full loyalty but then Maul "dies" on Naboo. I really don't think Sheev planned for that.

The only mandate Filoni has ever talked about from Lucas regarding Vader, the unbreakable rule, is that you cannot make Vader appear weak. He has to retain his threat or he loses credibility, so Dave said they're very careful about how they use him.

So Aftermath/Lost Stars told us that Wedge joined the Rebellion because the Empire not only hurt people close to Wedge, but also because Fulcrum recruited him. He was then sent on a mission that fucked him up and left him on a volcano, that lead to him being on shit-tier duty for the Rebellion and meeting the other ANH pilots.

How much of this will we see or have corroborated by/in Rebels?

Most likely they didn't find them emotive enough without human eyes, though I suppose if people are really bent out of shape over it they can treat it like Anakin's eyebrows in the season 2 finale. We know Anakin doesn't have them, but they added some in just for that scene to make him more expressive. The eyebrows apparently aren't considered a retcon, though. Or Vader routinely shaves them off but forgot on the day he was destined to fight Ahsoka.

You're equating things that don't necessarily follow, such as first off assuming Palpatine is disappointed in Vader at all for his injuries. In fact we saw him impressed and gloating in Vader's display of power against those droids when he was told he had killed Padme.

In the comics he was disappointed that Vader had failed him too often recently, first in allowing the Death Star to be destroyed and then a major weapons production facility taken out in the first arc of the comic. This is when he starts planning his tests for Vader. If Vader had died it would prove he was weak. Instead he overcame.

Really you just seem to have a very odd interpretation of comic events.

The First was the Grand Inquisitor and their isn't a brother and sister for each number but rather the Fifth Brother is the 5th of them, the Seventh Sister is the 7th, and so on.
Though I don't know if they are numbered for power or rank or when they joined. FB and SS seemed to be of equal rank under Inqy though so maybe only Grand really matters.

Vader says to Sheev's face that all the talk of this being a test for Vader meant nothing because Vader is fully aware that if he'd died the Emperor would merely give the same speech to the victor. But at the same time Cylo is doing things against the Empire that it's very possible, even probable, that the Emperor could sense. He was always good about detecting threats to his designs. Not that it's infallible of course. He manipulated the events on Endor but never counted on Luke turning him down or Vader turning on him.

Cylo as with Thanoth, I think. These men can see how if you get too close to the Emperor, if you learn too many secrets, you're only marking yourself as a dead man. Maybe not today or tomorrow but eventually.

I really like those helmets but I think they wanted to show more of his face. It's still a shame because literally any helmet with the blast visor down over his eyes would do the job. That one is just too round and uninteresting looking. I'm also not liking the new wardrobe without his armor pieces.

I think it's more like they're Sith-Lite, not even half the calories but still a hint of the same Dark Side taste, so it's tidier in the defeat of the Sith if they're eliminated. Any of them finding one of Sidious' Sith instruction manuals would be a big deal otherwise.

I definitely think zombies are overdone, but I do like that Death Troopers exists because it proves you can do survival horror in the Star Wars universe. I've always appreciated books and games and comics that took the Star Wars universe and stretched it in new directions. Because Mother Talzin sacrificed a shit load for her sons. She lost pretty much her whole tribe in the process, but they were doing pretty well so far. Then one of them died and the other fucked up in a massive way, so much so that she ends up sacrificing her own life to save him.

I'm sure a part of her did it out of love, but she was also probably banking on Maul actually using that chance she gave him to get back on top and kick Sheev's ass. Unfortunately for both of them, he hasn't done shit since then apparently besides lose Mandalore and everything he worked so hard to get.

Then Maul comes along almost two decades later with a promising apprentice and bring Talzin back somehow. I think she probably sees something in Ezra as well, but do you think she's going to be happy letting that fuck up Maul guide him?

I still think that should happen at some point now that Maul has been reintroduced. It FEELS like there is some unfinished business between the two, but I suppose Dave might see no real point after Obi-Wan refused to fall to the Dark Side in front of Maul. And for what it is worth the two almost met on Mandalore since we know that it was at the start of a campaign against Maul that Anakin and Obi-Wan were recalled to save the Chancellor.

The trouble with Revan, at least as he comes out of both the KOTOR games, is that he's heavily caught up in an interpretation of the Force, the Jedi, and the Sith that may no longer be canon. He's supposed to be someone who became the ultimate Jedi, then became the ultimate Sith, then became the ultimate Jedi again, and then washed his hands of both orders and vanished into the depths of space. I'm not sure that's the sort of thing you can do in the new canon.

Here's a wild theory.

With the new canon, we don't know how long the Jedi vs Sith has actually been a thing.

We know that per Obi Wan, the Jedi have been around at least a 'thousand generations'.

We know that Bane established the Rule of Two 1000 years before the movies.

We know Maz is about 1000 years old (Yoda was 700, and SW has a habit of taking mythic sounding terms literally).

What if the Sith have only been around a thousand years, instead of the 5000+ years in the old canon?

I'm willing to bet Lucas even meant 1000 years with old Ben's story, but just thought generations sounded better than years.

In Tarkin they talk about how 6,000 years ago the Hundred Years of Darkness happened when the first Jedi left the order to form the Sith on Morriban and after that there were 5,000 years of conflict ending in the Rule of Two, the recreation of the Old Republic (which was 19,000 years old at the time) into the Galactic Republic, and the moving of the main Jedi Temple on Ahch-To to Coruscant.

Part of the reason Aftermath sold so well is due to hype. It was one of the books released for Force Friday and it was the first major post-ROTJ work of the new canon.

Life Debt has neither of these going for it, plus now everyone knows what to expect from Wendig.

Nope. Bo's white, Sabine isn't. Also, Sabine comes from a house that is subservient to Clan Vizsla. Bo comes directly from Clan Kryze. If she were Bo's daughter, she'd be Sabine Kryze, not Wren.

Then again I prefer the theory that he just didn't reveal his damaged state because he was worried it was a sign of weakness. Images of him during Rebels show him still strong and stately.

Still how he's able to get away with that when his declaration of the creation of the Empire before the entire Senate (whom they recalled) involved the Jedi horribly scarring him in their attempted coup. Go figure.

It's 'House Wren'. Houses are subservient to Clans. I think the fact that Bo comes from an actual Clan would take precedence over someone of a House. Not unlike in real life where people born of a parent of higher status will be given that parent's name over the parent of lesser birth (and in some cases, it's not unheard of for a man to take the wife's family name if they're more prestigious). Thus, if she were Bo's daughter, she'd be a Kryze and not a Wren.

He truly was the greatest and most powerful Dark Lord of the Sith.

That is true. There is enough to be an implied relation, but we don't know for sure the nature of their relationship. We know that Sabine's mother was part of Death Watch. But we don't know if her mother was part of Bo's insurgency or if she was a Darth Maul loyalist. Kast could very well be Sabine's aunt or older sister for all we know.

I don't think we know how long any other Sith Lord ruled. Twenty years is actually pretty small time on the galactic scale.

Your entire evil Force group is thought to be extinct for 1000 years, you finally manage to outwit the Jedi and then barely manage to make it twenty before your own Apprentice chucks you down a reactor shaft that for some reason was installed in your own throne room because you were skimping on hiring GOOD contractors for your second Death Star.

Yeah, that's not exactly a record to be proud of. The Knights of Ren will probably turn out to be an organization that's ruled in the Unknown Regions for thousands of years and the sole reason the Jedi were too scared to go deeper than Ilum.

We don't know that, but it's possibly probable that they do. The last galactic scale war was waged against the Sith Empire. Something like that isn't easily forgotten. Not unlike how most of the world still remembers Atilla, or Alexander the great long before. Though at this point in the universe the Sith are probably a subject of Myth and legend to the general public. The kind of shit they base campfire stories or morbid lullabies and old wives tales on. If the general public in the interior found out their hero was a monster from such legends (and history from the more older and more learned influential individuals), there'd be some potential massive system wide riots and they'd have to call in all the Outer Rim forces to get that shit under control. That would set their expansion into the outer rim, and beyond, back terribly. With Imperial outposts unmanned because of riots in the interior, it'd be easy salvaging pickings for criminal syndicates and pirates looking to make some good profit.

So yeah. Maintaining the guise of Palpatine is pretty fucking paramount.

Yes. He set out to do what they tried in the past with many wars and succeeded with just one. As a single ruler, he controlled more than any of them likely ever did.

Though I'll throw you at least one bone in that unlike in the past with the old Sith Empire, Sidious didn't have up to thousands of other Sith Lords to compete with when it came to expanding his rule. Being that it was mostly him and Vader (and Maul but only to a small extent as far as what he could affect), Sidious was able to prosper in ways that the Sith of the past were never able to.

That's the problem with the Imperial campaign against mentioning the Jedi and now apparently that the Emperor looks like a half melted candle. How do you erase the mere memory of the Jedi from the galaxy, drive them into myth and legend, when you have to tell people not to mention them? How do you claim they weren't real when you specifically outlaw any footage of them? How would there even be footage of the Jedi or recordings mentioning them in the Clone War if they don't exist?

Well anyway to say that there wasn't a great war between Jedi and Sith is probably unrealistic though. They had to drive them "extinct" somehow and a big war which gave rise to the Galactic Republic makes sense.

I'm sure they had places that may be good for the Rebels to eventually locate but might still have active droid defenders.

That and some references in Tarkin are all we know. But we certainly don't know if it was just one guy or not. Even if it was that was just the start. Recruiting for the Sith would make them rivals for a rare commodity in the universe: Force Sensitives. Again, you do not think they didn't come into contact during a period known as the Hundred Years Darkness?

They aren't even being subtle about the fact that some heavy shit went down.

I keep running into this in their canon articles and I don't understand why they even do this. Do they just think because it was in the databank at one point years ago that it still counts as canon?

There's a lot of people there with a very robotic mindset. Telling them "the databank is canon" makes some of them think "oh, well X was in the databank as of 2002, therefore it is canon."

Hell, some of them STILL wrestle with the idea that not literally everything made after April 2014 is part of the new canon.

The only source for that is the no-longer-existing Databank page. The most detailed info we have on the Nightsisters was Ventess describing their ways to Vos in Dark Disciple, but she never once used the word ichor. We know the root of their magic was just an extract they managed to brew from tissue culled from a Force Sensitive fish monster.
