Since the end of volume 3 implied Salem is at least somewhat aware of Ruby's existence (at least I assume so since she refereed to the simple soul as a she), I'm guessing this is going to be a "attempt to kill the problem early" sort of scenario. Like with some sort of group actively out there hunting for her or something (which would then lead to Ruby and the gang realizing that someone is actively out to get them).
Would be kind of neat if done right, like wherever Ruby goes a trail of death follows because Salem is after her or something. Could lead to some interesting developments character wise.

As long as we don't get filled in solely by exposition, I'm pretty okay with this.
