Ah, I grew up in Lincolns position, it really is a loud house with that big a family. Someone's always awake, clanging about, someone's always yelling, someone's always invading your personal space, the tv is always on blast, someone's music is on blast, and there's never any escape. It gets to the point where you start to get so stressed, so tired, so angry, you despise sound in general. Every thump, every snap, every creak, avery laugh, will send you into a blind rage. And the constant ringing, the ringing never stops. It encompasses you, and never lets you go. The sound of your crush's voice, the sound of a melodious song, the sound of a bird flapping its wings. They all become indestinguishable from the revving of a motorcycle or the whirr of power tools. Silence is true bliss, a thing to be treasured. The greatest rarity on our planet. I gouged out my ear drump years ago and have not regreted it since. If I hadn't I am certain I would have killed myself, or more likely, someone near me.
