Okay. In my experience autistic and kids latch onto shit with complicated symbolism and the pretention of depth rather than things of actual complexity.
Because actual complexity is rather boring and banal to understand. It is mundane things interacting in uninspiring ways, forming a large system.
I took aSoIaF (a Song of Ice and Fire) as an example because its diplomacy is much like actual medieval diplomacy.
Driven by petty ambition and a few pedestrian principles. Which is why none of the fans discuss succession law or politics, but flock to conspiracy theories cobbled together from cryptic allusions the author dropped.
For most fandoms people talk about meaning assigned to things, conspiracies and schemes, because those are inspiring the imagination. One reason why people are let down by reveals. They imagine a ton of vague shit, but it's always an actual thing that is less glamorous just by virtue of being real and easily understood.
One thing that is complex without being complicated is Pearl. You get her. Her problems are relatable and easy to see, yet they manifest in various ways and interact, making her a character with many layers but not something hard to understand.
What she needs is straight forward, but there are many aspects to her.
You get why she is hurt or elated by different things that relate to her history.
She is not 2deep4u.
