Assuming that it is the last episode i watched when the Zentradi and RDF first start talking it goes surprisingly well at first.

The Zentradi fleet may be made out of cardboard but there are a million ships. They need to avoid ground combat though, Zentradi have huge guts and Spacemarines love to rend and tear.

Also Battle Pods are so fragile i am reasonably sure they are vulnerable to bolter fire or even massed lasguns.

AdMech would probably recreate the original premise of the show by declaring that as a priceless artifact of the Dark Ages of Technology the SDF ! must not be harmed no matter the cost.

Max Sterling somehow beats up a Space Wolf and becomes friends with him.

Silly question, I'm a mad fluff obsessive, but always curious, as the Imperium is just being ground down on so many fronts, why wont they just willingly give ground and reduce what they need to defend rather than try to hold everything against everything and be spread so thin? The Imperium has a Million plus worlds. The Republic has 14 million plus. While the Imperium has an ungodly sized military the Republic could (in theory) hold them at bay til a proper war economy got going. The Republic would be facing a war beyond any they can think of that would last generations, but they have good odds if they can get their shit together.

Any 40k vs Star Wars argument ultimately boils down to home turf advantage.

Whoever is on their own turf wins. The republic has their ez hyperspace in their own galaxy. But lack any sort of ability to use it in the 40k galaxy because they need those maps for it to work.

The advantage SW has is speed. Their hyperspace drive is way way way faster than warp travel, and they can outproduce the Imperium industrially. Yes, they have shittier armor and their weapons are maybe on-par with the Imperium, and in an even fight the Imperial Navy will win against the Republic Navy, but they're never gonna have an even fight, because hyperspace drive.

SM Librarian versus Jedi is something I'd like to see, though.

I don't like choosing xenos over a human civilization, but come on. Just think about the energy requirements of reforming an entire fucking planet like that. This is construction equipment we are talking about with the power to do anything the Imperium can militarily. Glassing the surface of a planet would take a literal afternoon.

All the Imperium has going for it is that MAYBE Homeworld isn't used to fighting civilizations with spaceships and is more geared towards fighting other gems. By power output though, the Diamond Authority makes the Imperium look like they are chucking rocks.

What about logistics? An Imperial fleet without the Imperium to back it up would quickly dissolve as its resources run out and it can't feed itself. Gems don't have such problems and can fabricate material using a handheld tool.

Ships have enough food to last them for a long time. Not always enough to last an "unexpected" extended stay in the Warp, but enough for quite a few years.

Given that the Imperium is made up of Quadrillions if not more people, I'm sure they would eventually find places to colonize and reside, but you are right, Trillions would die from starvation and dehydration, as food would be rationed to the Imperium's best and most deserving assets

They colonize a hundred million worlds but at most just the thin layer of a planet's surface. Homeowlrd turns entire fucking planets, core to crust, into hive cities.

The Imperium is tier 2.1 civilization. Homeworld is a 2.5 civilization. That is a big fucking difference. The best one could hope for is that the Diamond Authority rarely fights and has never fought anyone but other gems. If so they might be woefully illequipped for fighting the battle hardened Imperium initially. But by scale and shear unadulterated power output, the Diamond Authority puts the Imperium to shame.

You've got to adapt to the setting. In SU, the Milky Way is so inconsequential that it makes more sense to just imagine that the Imperium simply exists there rather than invades. They are already ill equipped to handle the Diamond Authority. Leaving them at a further disadvantage by only allowing them a fleet of ships instead of millions of worlds would be an uninteresting route.

Also it's not like fighting the Tyranids. I doubt the Imperium would waste an Exterminatus on the Homeworld and not just throw their armies at them to crush them and retake the planet. Exterminatus is only used in a scenario where a planet is irrevocably lost and can never be reclaimed (ie full scale Chaos corruption, massive WAAAGH!!!, Tyranid infestation, Tomb World)

You don't seem to understand Imperium tactics. The only times the Imperium ever entrenches itself is against horde enemies like the Orks and Tyranids, enemies that will match the sheer numbers of the Imperium's armies enough to form a deadlock. For anything less than billions of soldiers, the Imperium just hurls bodies at it until they have won. I do not think Homeworld has the numbers, nor the power to force the Imperium to entrench themselves.

But maybe it's not a galaxy as big as the Milky Way. Maybe it's one of the Magellanic Cloud galaxies. Still though, if Homeworld only controls as many star systems as the Imperium Homeworld colonies are still ridiculously huge.

Technology wise, they can replicate anything, turn back time, see the future, and can engineer on a planetary scale, like by turning any planet they want into any structure they want.

The thing is, you're talking about a setting where the rules of the universe are extremely important to the setting.

When talking about a crossover with Warhammer, you have to specify who's universe they are in. Imperium spaceships are slow as fuck without being able to drop into the realm of souls and use the Emperor as their beacon, and Space Marine Geneseed is actually dependent on the Warp connection to the Emperor so in any setting where the Warp does not exist the Space Marines literally just die as their ultra-important implanted organs all turn into non-functional sacks of tissue.

Basically every species other than Tau require the Warp to function at full capacity, while the Imperial Guard and Sisters of Battle are the only two other factions that even stand a chance. Even Tyranids, their hivemind is a Warp presence so without it they have no cohesion or unity and would probably consume themselves.

So let's put this in perspective. There is no Warp in the DC Comics universe.
So pretty much any 40k faction other than Tau loses outside their own universe.

But if Superman were to go to the 40k universe, suddenly you have Superman being affected by the Warp.

As for tech, time control is where they have an edge, but the Imperium has methods to see into the future, and thousands of planets are altered on a planetary scale with technology, usually Hive Worlds or Forge Worlds.

As for size, the Imperium is massive, and filled to the brim with humanity. Manpower is the Imperium's greatest resource, to the point that they can send billions and billions of lives to the death, and it wouldn't even put a dent in the sheer size of their military assets.

Tzeentch would have a field trip with Supes. The guy is all about hope and change. Such emotions are very powerful in him. Which makes him a perfect target for the Chaos god.

There was originally Chaos Gods of Law in Warhammer. They represented an almost alien way of thinking but were beneficial, whereas the Chaos Gods of Destruction were more human but only really capable of fucking things up.

But it was dropped because only the villains were marketable.

I dunno really Nurgle has got weird dynamics. He'll send down horrifying plagues onto entire populations on a whim but he also loves every living creature. Kinda like a loving grandfather, just goes about it in a really fucked up sorta way.

The reason Ork Waaagh!!!s can get countered quickly and crushed before they get too big in the 40kverse is because the forces of the 40kverse know what Orks are and how to deal with them.

Put Orks in pretty much every other universe and they will run roughshot for a long time, since no one would understand how Orks work and why they keep popping up everywhere.

The Imperium of Man has a lot more than a Million plus worlds. The lore describes it as a million million worlds. So many worlds that countless many get "lost" due to bureaucracy when a scribe forgets a name or unwittingly move a decimal point. These worlds are lost for generations, if they're even rediscovered. Entire human cultures rise and die out in the time between when they've been lost and when they are rediscovered.

If the entire Imperium's war machine had the Republics universe in it's sights, it'd just slowly roll over it, throwing it's men into the meat grinder as it inexorably plowed throw whatever defenses they could muster.

From my understanding, when you're talking about the bigger ships, the battle barges, the Imperial flagships, etc... It's the classic Naval Ship battles + torpedo's. It's very long range war, unless you get up close and then the Imperium ships are boarding the other ship or just straight up ramming the other ship and hoping to plow straight through it.

If it's the smaller space battles though, they've got heaps of small craft, interceptors, bombers, etc, to do the dog fighting.

The High Lords of Terra "interpret" the Emperor's will and dictate policy, which is filtered down to a vast, vast, vast bueracracy that very slowly deals with it. Even working at absolute peak efficiency it barely works simply having to deal with so much information from so many sources, so most power is devolved to a local planetary / sub-sector level. There's really only a handful of actual laws the Imperium demands you follow

+ Pay your tithes (usually in the form of raw materials and Imperial Guard regiments)
+ Hand over your psychics to the Black Ships for processing / feeding the Emperor / execution
+ Hate the mutant, the xeno and the heretic.

A lot else is left up to individual governors.

I tend to think of it as another one of those "theoretically" moments. Grey Knights are associated with the Inquisition. The Inquisition theoretically can requistion anything it needs to do its job, up to and including Space Marines. Space Marines tend to refuse to do anything they don't want to do. Anything that gets a Grey Knight force to reveal themselves and ask for help is probably the kind of problem that a Space Marine commander won't refuse, however, usually because its something like demon primarch invasions or other reality exploding events.

From what I've heard in the thread, Homeworld technology will give them an advantage in space, while Space Marines, Knights, Titans, and various other fuckery means the Imperium wins the ground game.
So I guess it depends on whether it's a war of conquest, or one where the goal is just to burn everything the enemy has to the ground. The former requires landing on and taking planets, so the Imperium wins, the latter just requires blowing them to hell from space, thus the advantage goes to Homeworld.

While the Zentradi have a HUGE numerical advantage they have equally huge disadvantages.IoM ship weapons grossly outrange most Zentradi weapons and are significantly more powerful. They'd be Abhumans in that case. Mutants at worst. The Imperium looks down on deviations from the human form, a corruption of it. But some abhumans are accepted just because they're useful, while mutants are barely tolerated if at all (either treated as an extreme lower class workforce or exterminated simply by being).

Acceptable only for their function. Astropaths are well-respected because they're an absolute necessity for warp travel, but they're feared by all and even cause disgust in others (which they meet with prideful disdain for those who lack their 'gift' of sight).

Abhumans are not as essential and certainly wouldn't be treated better. They're just another human resource to be exploited, and the Imperium already treats human life lightly.

The thing is, their technology is also super advanced. Even if they spend most of their efforts trying to rediscover their old advancements, what they already have is already quite incredible on its own. It's unreasonable to say they've got them beat on brainpower simply because they're trying to develop new technology when that doesn't necessitate that they're even on the same level or beyond them; they may even be way behind in some respects, such as weaponry and construction ability.

And the 14 M to 1 M comparison isn't even right, since the Imperium dedicates entire worlds to simply producing soldiers. 14 M worlds? They may not even have as many soldiers as the Imperium recruits simply by dint of the fact that they're not cruel or powerful enough to forcefully conscript most of the population from hundreds of thousands of planets.

Plus, 1 M is only those that are mapped. The actual number is countless, all lost in the hubbub of administration. That doesn't necessarily mean they're not being tapped for resources and manpower; it can mean they have yet to be catalogued. Soldiers and supplies can still be taken from such planets, even if the administration at large hasn't formally taken note of them yet.

And Palpatine's powers are small time. I mean, in that he's only 1 guy and the Imperium would have lots of guys who could do the same thing he can.

No, the Imperium makes use of xeno animals as livestock and mounts for soldiers. They only kill SAPIENT xeno creatures: those that already have their own culture and civilization.

As for the Gems possession ability, that will be useful for a handful of times, before the Nids adapt a way to ignore the possession, Nids can adapt to anything, not even Nurgle has found a disease that can stop them long term. Not to mention the Nids come in forces that are pretty much twice as big as Orks. They don't fight wars, they swallow worlds whole in an ocean of teeth and claws and chitin.

Its superpower was being invisible because it was weak and small.

It just seemed "hulking" next to a human but other corrupted gems were easily bigger and stronger. Not even counting non-corrupted gems.

Struggling through it becomes much easier, however, if you accept Papa Nurgle into your heart (and the rest of your body). For example the famous painting of the Emperor battling Horus, with the former standing in big golden armor and a flaming sword, and the latter in big black Terminator armour and being all evil and shit, it was just a vastly exaggerated piece of what really happened, ie the Emperor and Horus were just two regular looking dudes in combat armour?

Or the Golden Throne, it isn't a giant city-sized honest-to-God throne, but rather a creaky, leaky old stasis pod?

I've been thinking that the Imperium portrays it's heroes and history the same way the Catholic church would, taking into account things like the roof of the Sistine chapel (God reaching out to Adam) and whatnot
