They bubbled themselves to stop the Cluster from involuntarily forming a body. They were doing pretty well just talking to each other until that started to happen.

Thats bullshit. Back then women were viewed as objects rather then equals, so they were probably afraid of them becoming independant. The "no sex" thing was probably only a scare tactic for easily influnced uneducated women at first, but then turned to fear mongering for both sexes as a way to inflict guilt and control over the masses by the christian church.

Hell is very, very loosely characterized in the Bible, only really mentioned something like three times explicitly and other commonly accepted mentions require a lot of interpretation to see it that way. The concept that a lot of people are bound for Hell is now thought of by a lot of theologians and historians to not have even really been a part of early Christianity, but added onto and became an accepted part of Christianity much later on.

That wasn't the original complaint, though.

People are disappointed that the Cluster arc was resolved nonviolently, as if the show was averse to violence. However, it's actually because that particular problem was impossible to solve with violence, while Steven's solution of friendship and understanding was both feasible and effective. The Malachite arc, which happened simultaneously, was resolved in an episode-long fight scene, because that was a problem that ~did~ warrant violence. Even Steven himself fought in the battle!
