>>82384227What need is there to censor anything if the two are the same? You could just bring over Pokemon or Sailor Moon as they are and just dub and translate them. But they were both altered because they were considered inappropriate for American children in their original form. Anime in the 60s and 70s were also altered for the same reasons.
>The quality of the animation is the same, but the topic is different. They are not even remotely the same.
>If you want to bump your argument to "Japanese culture is superior to western culture" Where did I do any such thing?
>>82384242>Or hot guys with probably homosexual tendences? That's an entire genre: Boys' Love. There's also shows like Free and Prince of Stride where the characters are not homosexual but there's some homoerotic vibes (the target audience is women).
Slice of life shows for whatever reason are almost entirely about girls, but there are some exceptions here and there. Like Daily Lives of High School Boys, and I think Tsuritama (haven't seen that one though).
>>82384288The mecha genre was developed by anime, and only later adopted by Westerners... in very, very small numbers. The Gundam series alone is bigger than all the mecha stuff of the West combined.
>>82384311>So you admit you have no idea what you're arguingI don't have omniscient knowledge of anything. I concede it's possible that Western animation has covered those genres at least vaguely. But, again, I find it very unlikely. If you know for sure it has covered them, feel free to list applicable shows/movies.
>That isn't the argument here either. You're comparing quality of genre, not quantity.Let's say for example that there's one sports show in Western animation. Well, anime has countless of them (judo, soccer, boxing, baseball, tennis, swimming, ping pong etc.). That does constitute a big difference. The more of something there is, the more good, average and bad things there are and the more variety there is.
