I just watched it again for the first time last night, and I liked him a lot more than I remembered. That's fucking why. I prepped myself for ultron to be ultron when I went tinder it in theaters, but last night? I just said fuck it, and really liked him. He's just a broken robot trying to do what he thinks he is supposed to do.
I loved his early ramblings to himself in the scrap bot and his reaction to other people's reactions, particularly Wanda. She seems him as a monster, and he gets upset when he realizes that. Not angry upset, but like actually upset. He starts to question himself for a moment before making a choice to do what he was supposed to do.
Quips aside, MCU Ultron really was pretty great.
