Yeah i'm not sure what about it seems like 'a movie pitch'.

Unless by movie pitch they means set up in a way that seems like it could be easily made into a movie. Which to me just seems like very natural flowing dialogue and real human mannerisms along with well utilized body language to emulate timing in a film. But i'm okay with all of those.

I was going to tradewait this but after reading the storytime I went ahead and bought the first issue from the Image Comics store (gotta support the creators whose stuff I actually enjoy and all that).

The comic sort of reminds me of Viktor Kalvachev's Blue Estate from a few years back. Oh, and it sort of reminds me of Steven Grant's Deceivers, too (although The Fix is way more of a comedy than Deceivers).

I'd recommend getting it from the ImageComics.com digital storefront instead of comiXology if you're paying for the comic to get the DRM-free CBZ. Cut out the middle man and send more money the creators' and publisher's way. At least that's how I remember it works... I recall Jim Zub posting on his blog that buying Image Comics through the comiXology mobile app means comiXology gets something like 30% of whatever it is you paid, Google or Apple (depending on your device) gets something like 40%, Image gets something like 15% to pay for administrative costs, leaving the creative team to split the remaining 15%.

I won't try to talk you out of ypur opinion, but I can say that I honestly don't think about other-media stuff at all when I draw this book. Every single choice I make is based on putting out the best comic I can.

If I wanted to pitch a movie, I'd be doing lots of 3 panel pages that look great on a flip-thru, not elaborate 8 and 9 panel pages that require attentive reading.

Nick Spencer clearly loves him some 90's crime movies because this feels exactly like one of those cheapie post-Tarantino video store thrillers there were a million of in the decade.

Yes. All Image Comics digital floppies, whether you get them from the Image Comics storefront or comiXology, are DRM-free. Although you should really get them from the former, as I think the creators get a bigger cut of the sale there. Together I think maybe. Though if you want another comic with a similar comedy flair check out Quantum and woody must die which has steve lieber as its artist.
The quantum and woody books in general have been amazing. I havent read the original 90s ones which i hear good things about. but the reboot of valiant a few years ago has been great and they have also been kick ass in it.
