>>81492586>>81498933Sweet jesus this.
See, I'm willing to forgive the show for being lazy and just rehashing TTGo plots with little girls and using the old style to try and pull nostalgia points on parents.
But them straight up talking about "the messages we want to present" and shit like that is a whole other level of wrong.
Saying "LOOK, THIS THING WANTS TO BECOME THIS THING, ITS A METAPHOR FOR TRANS" isn't a message, it's you forcing a point when it could just as easily be brought in at least a more enjoyable fashion.
I'm one of the faggots that believes Kill La Kill is actually a pretty deep metaphor for female puberty, but they didn't thrust that into you face or anything: they extrapolated to the point where its comedic and enjoyable while still talking about accepting your sexy body and getting over making new friends at school and shit.
Steven Universe, despite all the SJW bile it gets, rarely ever directly states any kind of message. It's all done through actual character development and indirect actions. Ruby/Sapphire isn't "I'M GAY FOR YOU SO LETS FUCK" or anything. Garnet's two gems that protected each other and then had a cute little conversation about the experience while holding hands and dancing.
The original PPGs even knew how to do that shit. Fuck, Love Makes the World Go Round is a more subtle metaphor than this fucking pony shit.
