Many claim it because when the episode came out, the popular trends in the Gumball fandom were that season one was the worst season and it was mainly due to Gumbuse. Also at the time, it was widely accepted that Anais was a Lisa-tier condescending douche in season one but that she got better in season two. The Allergy featured some Gumbuse (Anais' snarky jabs and Nicole's comments about superior genes) and had a condescending Anais.

This created minor flame war within the fandom that made many consider it one of the worst season three episodes at the time (tied with The Name (never really understood why people didn't like that episode) and The Coach (boring jokes and wasted character development)).

I never said it was my opinion (I personally consider it one of the better season three especially considering its eleven minute length) but the fandom back then thought it was mediocre because they felt that Zach could've gradually developed from Gumball instead of immediately taking his personality over and Zach could've interacted with more characters if it was doubled in length.

You are either really new, or never really bother to get into the Gumball threads. All he said was pretty spot on.

Only mistake he has is to assume a thread cannot be hijacked by 2 or 3 faggits that are really vocal about their opinions. Add the people that don't have a real opinion, just what 4chan, or whoever, tells them, and you got a community that temporarily hates an episode that could actually be well received elsewhere.

I saw the threads with my own eyes as I explained in >>81204857 and it got pretty ugly. Thankfully, the hiatus we suffered after The Nobody lead to a decline in activity in Gumball threads and a fresh start for the fandom afterwards.
