>>81188587While I agree, it's a dumb arguement, it's not exactly that simple. Who you are is defined by three things, your genes, the environment your genes are expressed in (for example, if you are born in a dark cave, with little to no sunlight, and not exposed to light for a certain period of time, you will be blind because your brain will never make the connections necessary for sight, no stimulation. Same thing with language. You have 13 years to learn language as a human, if you do not, you will be stuck at ape levels of communication.) And third your memories of experiences, social and environmental. That is who you are, genes, environment (expressed through genes), interactions (and their affects on your brain).
Now, the question with Trans people is, how would you fix them? You cannot give them some sort of gene therapy. The Genes making them male/female have already been expressed in puberty. Their brains are already wired incorrectly. Same thing with some fantastical new body. You could grow an entire human body, transplant their brains into it, and it wouldn't matter, the hormones caused by puberty and life have already affected their brains. That's the issue. The problem isn't with their physical body. The issue is with their brains, and the hormones being released, and the experiences they've had in life. To "fix" a trans person is to make them a cis person, essentially, through radical brain surgery and therapy or something.
