Characters we know definitely could not have been based on Lauren would be Blossom (Craig hadn't met her yet when he created the characters) and Candace (Dan Povenmire's early sketches were made in 1994-95 when Lauren was an apprentice just out of college that nobody had heard of yet)

Lauren Faust is a fairly prominent animator. She's the wife of Craig McCracken, and consequently, did work on a lot of his shows as well, including Powerpuff Girls and Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends. However, she's most well-known for having been the prime mover of the first few seasons of that one show about the pastel horses that has a containment board.

It's a running gag in Gravity Falls threads to claim that the character of Wendy is a stand-in for her, because they both have red hair and a somewhat tomboyish attitude, while being unattainable for the protagonist.

Redheaded characters are designed wearing green clothes a lot because green is red's compliment. Same reason for all the blue/orange movie and game posters.

Daphne is an example of a different kind of color design. Her scheme is triadic rather than complimentary. Her hair is more orange than red, and her clothes are purple and green. These colors form a triangle on the color wheel.

people consider all of these things when designing good characters. Compliments draw the eye. If a redheaded character wore clothes that matched her hair color, her design would make her seem like more of a background character and possibly be less memorable.
