Flash falls into the Spiderman "theme hero" catagory, yes, he's wicked more powerful than them, but he's still a one trick pony so he gets an "any superpower" villian cast. Thor has magic and mythology to source, his villians benifit from that, it's not as if a single magic spell can't amp up any enemy with a crowbar. And despite his crap villian's gallery Iron Man has been iconic Marvel from his first issues, don't ask me why, he's just popular for some reason.

He has been written better in the last decade but the original concept is still poison: Super. I get that to a fan he's more complex and well structured, but the superficial view is only of the classic strongman prettyboy hero, you know that.
>>80634085Character is a driving theme in making great archenemies but Lex Luthor isn't challenging Supes to an armwrestling match, he picks fights in the arena of intellect, and if there wasn't any villians as physically strong as Supes (once more) he would be without challenge in strength, and that would make that strength meaningless no matter how engaging the villians are in character.
Pym has a great mirror in Ultron, and before that with Egghead but the story of genius turned to madness can only be explored for so long before a new challenge has to be presented in order to prove that genius. The Hulk was mirrored with so many of his enemies that they eventually just added "red" to his name (i joke) and the story was the same over and over again, even the Hulk should be treated as more complex than that. You need a hero to express aspects of themself in conflicts beyond the dark reflection of who the hero is.
