I only read one issue with him before they killed him off but he had such a great motivation: Batman was the first opponent to defeat him durring an assassination attempt, he had to (hardcore) cut off his own hand to escape the batcuffs before the cops showed up. And after that taking down Batman was about reclaiming his pride, but he just kept losing and losing until he became a weak background villian in group scenes.
It was just sad.
And that's exactly why I think he deserves more than his current corpse status, he's the PTSD soldier who can't move past that one battle that took his hand and took the fight out of him. It's even more perfect when you think about Russia's place in the world today: the Russian mob is mostly bitter ex millitary now, who better to be the Gotham face of that than The KGBeast?
I dunnoe, I just see pointlessly squandered potential there.
