>>80354162Western cartoons are primarily comedy and they succeed because we have a production schedule that allows us use voice actors to punch up the jokes with their comedic timing. We also have much longer schedules which allows boarders to properly cartoon out jokes using unique expressions, if need be.
Anime often rely on the same compositions, acting, and re-use way more assets than cartoons do because they have deadlines to meet and record voice lines afterwards. That's why they have no lip sync, just flapping mouths with general timing. They are also primarily drama, and I personally find it hard to take a drama seriously when most animes use the same stock acting

I grew up with Looney Tunes and cartoony stuff all my life, so I'm more adjusted to that and have a biased preference towards it, really. Had I gotten an equal amount of viewing for both, it might be different.
