The problem is the effort the company went through for years to keep WW, their biggest female character, as some kind of second place prize for Superman. While Superman was being written living his life to the fullest WW was kept virgin so that if Lois dies or something Superman can finally fly over and pump her a child.
It's a fucked up set up that they created.
