No Sith, for obvious reasons, but you can take a "dark side" path and learn the powers of the Nightsisters.

Pretty damn cool if you ask me. I was worried they would botch things up when they added the optional "discover the force" missions, but this is a satisfying way to deal with it, and not the norm for Star Wars vidya.

No, your character isn't a Jedi at all. As far as I know, the endgame of the "Force" missions is maybe the ability to use some minor force abilities. There's not even any Lightsabers in the game (yet)

And if the endgame is that you can become a Jedi, then you have to remember that there will be just 1 Jedi, because your player character is the canon one, nobody else's. Maybe it's leading towards you joining Luke eventually. I don't know, they're kinda' adding missions every month or so, and it's hard to keep up. I'm already like 20 missions behind, because you have to grind to progress.

In fact, I am literally having to grind right now to continue the Nightsister missions, along with the main story. And I need to collect another 500 Holodisks just to see what the Lightside path is about (assuming it's still open to me)

The grinding in this game is too much.

But back to your question, no, no lore has been broken so far. The game is approved by the LSG too. It's one of the only things out right now showing the era between RotJ and TFA.

Worried about that too. The updated icon for the game is a Twi'lek holding a Lightsaber, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that there's still no Lightsabers in the game. It's refreshing.

I wouldn't mind if, maybe a long ways down the line, you can maybe steer towards being a Jedi (especially if it ties into meeting Luke maybe)

But right now, 60+ missions in, the player character is still an average joe Bounty Hunter trying to make their way in the Galaxy.

It is. It's pretty ambitious, but at the same time, very barebones because of it's restriction to being exclusively on Mobile platforms. Should have been digitally available on PC/XBL/PSN.

Art and designs are nice, and the character names are appropriately goofy as heck.

Phasma was only popular before the movie came out. As soon as people saw her in the actual movie the "fanbase" dropped off real damn fast.

And hey, Boba at least accomplished stuff before he was dispatched. Pretty much everything on cloud city depends on him tracking the falcon there, ROTJ too with him taking Han to Jabba.

Phasma literally did nothing and has been completely undermined as a threat in her first outing. It's not a good start for her.

It's Grievous. You have to remember that before ESB, Lucasfilm promoted the hell out of Boba. He appeared in a parade, had a cartoon introducing him in the animated special, and even his action figure was first available as a mail-away promotion so kids could get "the cool new bad guy from the new movie." That action figure is a significant part of why Boba got so big, kids had one and imagine him being this super-cool unstoppable badass one-man army. How could they not, look at his package, it even has a blurb reminding you of how badass he is.

Then these same kids eventually grew up and started writing actual Star Wars fiction, hence why Boba Fett was depicted as such an unstoppable badass, especially in the 90's- these guys now had a chance to make turn Boba into the character they imagined as kids.

Grievous is similar. His role is larger than Boba's, but he also went through the pre-release hype phase that sold him as something much bigger than what ended up on-screen. The Grievousfags have mostly quieted down, but there was a period of several years where people were still loudly bitching about how Lucas "butchered" the character and that he should have been this unstoppable badass that no hero should've been able to defeat. A significant portion of his fanbase to this day is people who liked the Grievous they saw and/or imagine pre-release.

Sure but from the perspective of an effective bad guy all she did was fuck her own team over at the first sign of danger. While Boba is partly responsible for Empires "the bad guys win" ending, Phasma is the opposite.

Plus it sticks out even more considering what a die hard loyalist she is. I could see a sellsword bounty hunting merc type just saying "yeah yknow what, fuck the first order" but Phasma? It makes her a joke.

Having Finn get up in her face for comedic purposes doesn't really help either.

Phasma coulda been salvaged if she headbutted chewie or something, or did some underhanded thing to screw over the heroes like activating some early self destruct. I dunno, just put up some kinda fight.

Half of the sync characters seem to have either one or no characters they can work with. The Geonosian soldier has the power to boost any other Geonosians but there's literally only one other Geonosian. I could see them being forward-thinking and looking to add droids to both sides later on, but I don't see them ever adding more playable Geonosians.

He's a Jedi, no reason why he shouldn't have one and be able to use it. If had had spent his entire screentime wielding it that would've been dumb. TCW for example has Yoda appear constantly, he's in a vast majority of the episodes, but he only uses his lightsaber in maybe three episodes outside of his lost missions arc (and once it was just to show it to younglings who were about to get their crystals)

It was fine mate. Didn't like the Episode 2 fight, but the Episode 3 fight was great because he showcased his strength in the Force moreso than with the Lightsaber. The balance was spot on, whereas the Dooku fight was awkward, like he was lowering himself to give Dooku a fair fight. There's no way he was matched in strength against Dooku, I refuse to believe it.

Sheev is a bit more debatable, but fuck it, he loves fun.

It was really dumb. Luke was looking for a great warrior because he equated the Force to being "gud at fites", Yoda being small and unassuming corrected Luke that the Force was more than that.
Then they just turned him into a silly, screaming pinball-ninja. The dude's supposed to be wise, methodical and deliberate but as soon as he whips out a lightsaber, he's the absolute antithesis of everything he's supposed to be.

Like I said, it's more up for debate.

Sheev calls the Lightsaber a "Jedi weapon", but prior to Episode 3, everyone had completely accepted that the Sith did in fact use Lightsabers. Maul, Dooku, and the EU Sith primarily used the Lightsaber, so Lucas figured, ehh, why not.

And then, of course, the backlash comes because "Palpatine doesn't like Lightsabers though!"

But what I take from the line in RotJ was that he was mocking the Jedi and putting Luke down. "Oh that ancient religion you've been practicing for half a decade? hah, that so below me."

And by this point, Sheev probably doesn't even need his Lightsabers too. But in his prime, I think he enjoyed them just for fun.

Notice that he completely dominated Maul with the Force? He only fought with the Lightsabers for fun. In Lords of the Sith, he is described as constantly cackling with glee when he gets to kill stuff with his lightsaber. In RotJ, he was forced to use his Lightsaber because he was in a 4v1 (and possibly stalling for Anakin to arrive), and then later matched up against freaking Yoda.

So yeah, I think, for the most part, Lightsabers are just toys to have fun with to Sheev. He USUALLY wouldn't need them, but he has them because fuck it.

I always figured a Commando pod is probably more effective than a squad of ARC troopers but ARC Troopers are more adaptable individually, if that makes sense. ARC Troopers also seem to work with ordinary Clones and Jedi more regularly at least going by Repulic Commando and TCW. I don't remember if Traviss had anything to say on the subject.

Wrong, they didn't learn Dooku = Tyrannus and all that until several episodes after the microchip arc. Nor did they know that Tyrannus had the microchips planted.

Why? They had no reason to distrust the Kaminoans, who told them and Shaak Ti that the chip was simply an inhibitor chip to combat Jango Fett's more violent, unstable tendencies since he was a bounty hunter.

I'm still curious if the Empire did that solely as a precautionary measure or if the Geonosians had actually started showing signs of revolting and/or were already in the process of it.

I don't doubt it was for the Death Star's design, but I always thought it was primarily because they were one of the largest manufacturers for the Confederacy's droid army. Building battle droids is seemingly the only thing they have to contribute to the galactic community. So I thought the Empire did it as punishment.

No, but I'll admit it's been since those books were coming out that I read them. I was excited for something new to Star Wars, and my adolescent self thought the Vong sounded really cool. Then as I was reading it I just couldn't help but feel like they were extremely boring, one note villains, no better or worse than the Empire, but at least the Empire had the pottery of the Dark Side instead of just being Sadomasochists. On top of the fact that the Vong were literally "Win until the plot demands they lose."

Were they the worst thing ever introduced in Star Wars? Absolutely not. But I do think they were disappointingly lame and poorly handled.

Utapau arc was fucking great. One of my favorite arcs despite it not even being finished.

We got so much from those 4 episodes. We got to see Jedi CSI again; I love it when the Jedi play the roles of detectives and try to solve a case. The banter we got, as mentioned, was some of the best in the entire series. Not all lulz though as we got a really emotional scene between the two as they reflect on Ahsoka's departure and lament on the shortcomings of how the Jedi handled the situation. Great VAing from Matt as he conveys frustration and sadness simultaneously throughout the scene.
Grievous was in top form as a rampaging beast on the warpath. He even beats Kenobi with a one-punch KO. We got to see some creative applications of the Force with Anakin remotely activating his lightsaber a few times. And to top it all off, the whole thing ended on an oimous note that expanded the lore and tied neatly into the narrative collective with the inclusion of the heavily implied Death Star's power source.

It was all one big fun pulpy ride.

The shields don't stop physical impact, as seen in ROTJ when the Executor is taken out by an A-Wing crashing into the bridge (Granted the shields were already strained by the full concentrated fire of the entire Rebel Fleet).

If I recall correctly Star Trek shields are inferior as they only block lasers at a certain frequency. Star Wars lasers are fired from a gas which results in their frequency constantly fluctuating, therefore rendering Star Trek's shields useless.

They can withstand things matter. The low level deflector shield is always on and protects the ship while in warp or impulse from regular space debris.

I felt that was refreshing. A novice and wounded Jedi have a brutal, grisly fight that wasn't over at an immediate decapitation. It was dragged out, they wounded each other and only ended in a (almost) stalemate.

Think the TFA duel might be second favorite in the movies after RotJ.

The only times I remember that happening in the movies were Luke hitting Vader's shoulder and Dooku wounding Obi-Wan (in which case he was deliberately toying with him). Every other time it's been a grievous injury, if not outright death.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't want Kylo, Finn or Rey to suddenly start losing limbs, but it's bizarre for them to throw these hard swings at each other that only result in light damage.

Most of the stuff you call glancing was either a hit to an armored opponent or someone getting slashed with just the tip of the saber. Just because they don't get cut in half doesn't mean a cut is shallow, my understanding is lightsabers would make very deep, but not very wide wounds, which would probably look less damaging than they really were.

They're not "avoiding" anything. The prequels showed Jedi/Sith in their prime, their combat was faced paced and over the top to reflect that.

TFA showcases characters with literally no training, it's their first time picking up a Lightsaber, ever. Except Kylo, but he was heavily wounded.

And even then they managed to sneak in a pointless spin from Kylo to show that he is better trained.

It also started Anakin's downward spiral. The arc shows us the fallout from Ashoka's leaving the order by having him be more reckless than usual, very whiny, and being almost antagonistic to Kenobi in a few scenes. Oh yeah, and he's also angry in A LOT of scenes.

Because her armor wasn't made to support one? Compared to most Mandos, she's pretty lightly armored. Very small breast plates, minimal vambraces, shoulder and knee plates and barely a gorget. She's no back plate, thigh guards, greaves or even a cod-piece.

Seems to me her armor may have been geared more towards agility and evasion than being needed for all out full frontal assault.
